    **Updating 4 days later to say that apparently there were enough complaints about the update that they gave us back some of the features everyone complained were missing. So, I’m using it again., and changes my rating from 1 star.*** I HATE this update! I can no longer use the app bc it is so awful. I used to be able to navigate to world news or business or entertainment and now I hoy have access to what google thinks I want access to. It’s simply awful. I stopped using Apple News bc of this and came to Google news and now Google news is the SAME as apple. I HATE it. Did I mention how much I hate it?

    I have been using Google news several times a day for a long time. I liked the way the content was arranged with headlines and other sections. I could pick what I wanted to focus on and ignore the rest. Now the presentation of the content has changed and there seems to be a lot less content overall. I scroll down a few times and then I'm at the end of the list where I used to have much more choice. I have a new phone and I get a free trial of Apple news so I'm going to give them a try.

    Edit: after deleting and reinstalling the app, missing features have returned. The latest version removed local news, this was one of the best features of this app over Apple News. Now they are essentially the same. 🙁

    UPDATE: the only way to get the app to work properly is by deleting the app and reinstalling it. Simply updating doesn’t work. So there’s no bar at the bottom to switch away from headlines to the “for you” tab or any other tab? Just headlines? What is even the point of the app then?

    Crashes opening an article. Crashes half way through reading an article when I scroll down. From Google I expected better software developers and testing. Very frustrating.

  • Lost "Headlines" on Update

    6-11-25 Google News App Update took place. Today 6-12-25 "HEADLINES" has disappeared on the App. I went over my settings etc. Didn't correct the problem. Others have experienced it also as shown on GOOGLE COMMUNITY WEBSITE. What's up Google? This is an update 11:34 pm 6-12-25. Looking several minutes ago, I see "Headlines" and other options are shown across the top of the website page not at the bottom as it was previously.

    Why did they remove the Headlines tab?? It was useful. I hate “For You” articles because Google guesses at what interests me, and 99% of the time they are wrong!!

    I used to use the app daily, but then it appears that they removed the Headlines tab, which is where all the meaningful content was. It’s now unusable.
