Latest update ruined light control, particularly controlling the color.

The latest app has moved things around for no reason, so the devices tab has disappeared. In 2025 with AI taking over, you still can't rename a device. There's a reddit thread with details on how to install an older app version to rename a device. They grandfathered their old nest device and forced us to get a new one, which was a pain to install (had to factory reset a couple times). The nest app no longer works with this new 4th gen device, but they couldn't bother to make that clear in the app and we only realized it after googling around. Adding it to Google home was a total pain. It kept saying "Something went wrong" - a very helpful error message that some highly qualified people came up with I bet.

It was much easier and user friendly before!!

The new updates are great! I wasn’t happy with this app at first, but now I’m good with it. Please add camera enhance, etc. Thank you to all who work hard to ensure our homes are safe with this app!

Disappointed it remains offline on my devices

No comparison in terms of ease of use with the old Nest App. It’s an embarrassment for Google

Replaced the old Nest Aware subscription with an identical one called Home Premium, except it's 50% more expensive. You know, because it has "AI". Whatever that means.

Recently this app has been a hot, buggy mess. The Google Home Minis in general are mostly unusable. The Nest Mini is even worse. It won’t function with basic commands. My “downstairs light off” command claims it works in the app, but doesn’t turn off any of the lights. Recently, half of my living room lights stopped turning off with the “living room lights off” command. But this is only in the app. It works over the minis. I’ve been a user since 2018 and it’s worse now than it ever was then. Hopefully Google can turn it around. For the past year it’s not just that they’ve stopped fixing it. It’s like they’ve actively worked to make it worse. The new Gemini update doesn’t fair any better. Huge disappointment. Barely usable at this point. It’s about a coin flip as to whether my lights can turn on and off. One light in my kitchen can turn on with your voice, but can only be turned off in the app. Again, this is a new update. I use that word ironically. Original Review: Love the Google Home app. The fact that I can control my lights with my voice is awesome. The fact that I can have my Google Home Mini play music on my Bluetooth speaker is awesome.

Very slow response time. Lack of smart features. Like latching feature. But the most negative thing is slow response time.
