The “services” offered by google are few and the ones that they do offer are constantly not working properly. I’ve invested in maybe 1000$ worth of google products and the only one that works is my nest. Everything else is glitchy and problematic. And google representatives do little to support and then just tell you it’s a “known problem under review”. You would think one of the most powerful companies in the world could put together something less of an embarrassment. I’m switching to Apple HomeKit.

  • Have to factory reset to change wifi password

I have a Google mini speaker that is a few years old. Considering I got it for free under a Spotify promotion, I’m happy with it except for one issue: when I’ve changed my wifi password or the mini has problems connecting, there is no way to enter in my new wifi password in the app. I have to do a factory reset every single time. I search the help section and it tells me to go to Favorites then select wifi. That is not an option in my app. There are no devices listed under Favorites, and no option to select wifi from there. If I go to Devices and select my speaker, I can see the name of the network but when I click on it it just tells me that it isn’t connected. I’ve searched through the app extensively and there is no way to enter in a new wifi password except during the set up process after a factory reset. There needs to be a simple, straightforward option to select the wifi network and select change the password. This seems like a pretty big flaw in the design.

The Nest app is still better, simple things like creating a thermostat schedule can’t be done in the google home app. Yet I still have to have Google Home because new devices can’t be set up in the Nest app.

I have cameras in my house but sometimes my camareras won’t work and I complain with google but nobody cares about the product nobody cares about the customer and I paid subscription maybe this time developers will listen and maybe fixed and o correct the issue not just me but with community.

Timers are full of bugs—Google will forget the timer’s name, say there are no timers set when one is set, and so on. It’s incredibly frustrating and makes timers unreliable. Having used both Google Home and Alexa extensively, I can say that Alexa is far more reliable—it’s clear Amazon has invested a lot more in this technology than Google.
  • Hilariously bad.

The app has no way to connect to the only Google device in my home - the crummy Google fiber router that they gave me.

I’ve had the Google Home App since Google acquired Nest. I was never satisfied with its performance, i.e. always slow. An event on one of my cameras is old news by the time the image loads on Google Home. I figured Hey, it’s Google. They’ll fix it. They have not!!! I still have the Nest app and the images load significantly faster on it so it is not a WiFi problem. I’ve added additional cameras that are only accessible on the Google app. Now it’s time to replace one of the devices and I am struggling. A replacement will work ONLY on the Google app, not on Nest. Google, you are ruining a good thing. Do I really want to buy a product that I know I will be dissatisfied with??

Don’t ever plan to change or upgrade your internet because you will be forced to remove and re add every device. Including their setup. In 2024 this is your solution?! Absolute garbage.
