I had been using iMovie for years and wanted something with more features. This software is simple but still packed with so many quality features.
  • Confusing and nonsensical UI and menus

FCP should use a more traditional folder structure. This is how all other major NLE’s handle media. Menu items are buried for no reason. Luts? No easy way to intuitively find them. Why aren’t then under the color section?

I love how easy it is to use FCP! I switched from Adobe and glad I did.

I’ve been a Mac user since 2011 and I never looked back, and FCPX has been a life saver as well… thanks to this program, I started a YouTube channel 5 years ago and it’s going well! Done videos close to one hour and it just goes smoothly. Long live FCPX!

I’ve been using this program for over 20 years. I would like to see more improvements for ease of use. For example a very simple way to add effects and transition without going through the back end to add these items. Also the tracking system could use some improvements. It seems to loose track of my subject. I’m not going anywhere but I like to see the platform compete with it’s competition
  • HDR-HLG Viewer is broken

There is a bug where projects with a color space of Wide Gamut HDR - Rec. 2020 HLG don’t display correctly in the viewer. When I switch the color space to PQ, the viewer works perfectly on my HDR monitor. The problem is, Instagram and TikTok tone map PQ videos back to SDR. They only accept HDR videos within the HLG color space. This is a massive problem, especially for anyone trying to edit professional HDR video for social, and I hope it gets fixed soon.

I’ve been working in the video business for over 50 years, been all over the world working for major news networks, CBS News with Dan Rather and many many others. I always love my Mac because I’m a dyslexic and I can’t read or right and the max have always been computer. This editing software is great and I highly recommend it, world, peace take care.
  • Not intuitive. Hard to find tools. Cumbersome.

I wish Apple would make more intuitive products and lay things out where you can find them. Being an apple customer is too much work. Too time consuming to figure out what the tiny icons do. Too much headache trying to remember where apple hides simple functions or what apple calls them. Ugh.
