  • Almost there…Import Music

I really do like the overall interface. I was very unhappy to find out that you can not import music from iTunes. Usually I don’t write reviews but this was the whole reason I bought an iPad because I love editing on my Mac mini. Will have to go back to Filmora for now
  • Lack of features

No stabilization, can't save cuts, no third-party extensions and when was the last time they had a updates?!
  • Not quite pro yet

Overall, the interface is fairly intuitive and it has some nice editing options via the Inspector. But when I use files on removable storage, then quit the app, the next time I load the project it can’t find the files despite the removable drive still being plugged in and mounted. Please update Final Cut Pro with full support for removable storage devices
  • Always crashing

I wanted this to work and is the reason for actually buying an IPad, but it can’t go 20 minutes without crashing

Why is the typing effect not available on the iPad version?
  • It does the job, but frustratingly

It does the job but has many quirks and bugs. In the previous round it would crash randomly which was intolerable but this seems to be fixed now I am waiting to be sure. Unfortunately there are still many quirks that hold it back from being great. This is a skilled middle schooler not a heavy hitting pro. Although its possible to copy and paste your settings, it is not possible to apply them to all the clips in your project so as with many tasks in FCP for iPad you are forced into highly manual and iterative workflows. It does not support timelapse, i.e. setting single frame duration on a photo, as is done on the desktop version. The export process is extremely painful and frequently fails. The export is understandably long. This process needs to be maximized on your ipad screen so if it is 10 minutes or 1 hour that’s the time that your ipad will be locked up and useless for you. If you try to use “multitasking” with stage manager to add another window the export dialog will frequently close on you. In fact the swipe to close on the export dialog is a HORRIBLE misunderstanding of how anyone uses FCP. I don’t want swipe to close after my app has been grinding on a video for 45 minutes. If I bump my ipad and it is interpreted as a swipe I have lost all my work. If the job finishes and it pops the dialog the ipad can go to sleep, then swiping up to wake the ipad will close the export dialog. If the export saving process fails for any reason the popup does not come back it just disappears and your only option is to restart the whole process from scratch. Zero resilience. For a pay app, $60 a year they need to do better. This app should not be competing with the desktop for lesser functionality, it should be as good or better. If I can’t use it like a pro, then it is not pro.

  • Subtitle problem

When can you add the automatic subtitle function for Final Cut Pro? Just like the other video editing apps.
  • Not reliable

I would recommend staying away from FCP iPad. The app has broke down three of my longer projects in 4 months and won’t fix through troubleshooting(redownloading, restarting, exporting etc.) No video media will play in an important project and the app freezes when I attempt to play any media. Of course it may work after some time as one of my projects came back to life randomly, but it sacrifices my time and throws off my schedule with no known solution. Overall, I like the softwares functionality but it is unreliable and unoptimized. This app can make an ipad really hot and drain battery even when connected to chargers. Additionally it uses too much screen real estate and it has a frustrating timeline even when you used to it. It’s trying to reinvent the timeline but making worse decisions by making grouping, audio editing and multi clip edits much more tedious. I’ve used it as a preference up until now but this app is not worth the hassle or time commitment.
  • Incompatible With Interface

Final Cut Pro continues to crash when I’m connected to a simple audio interface. This crash happens prior when hitting the record button. Inexcusable for a paid app that gives no insight toward the process of connecting them.
