  • Rudimentary

This app is rudimentary. Feels dated. No cropping, etc. Brother would do well to add functionality similar to Mac’s built-in printer-scanner function. Not a good look for Brother not keeping up.
  • Was good—now broken

It was a pretty good app once you learn its unusual ways. But the most recent update that installed on 11/2/2025 has it completely broke. When launched, the app opens a child window that goes to the Brother website where you get a page saying that it’s undergoing system maintenance. There is no way to close the child window and the main window will not activate. Thanks Brother, you’ve bricked my scanner. I was looking at upgrading around Christmas time. But now Brother is out of the running!!!!
  • Completely useless

I’ve used this program for years and it’s been fine. Nothing fancy, but it works. Four days ago Brother released an update that completely bricked the program. When you open up the app you get a pop-up window saying they’re working on their website. You can’t close the pop-up or do anything to actually get to iPrint, so the program is completely useless until they fix whatever it is they’ve broken. That means that my scanner is also useless. I’ve purchased several Brother devices over the years and this is incredibly disappointing.
  • Can’t use app because of a popup window!

This app used to work just fine. Now every time you open the app you get a popup window that says “Sorry we’re working on our website”. And you cannot close it or move it to use the app! Why does their website maint impact this app!?
  • Doesn’t work at all

A ghost window appears “We are making updates behind the scenes”, which requires Force Quitting the whole app.
  • Idiotic Update

They rolled out a “Cookies Settings” pop-up window that has no way to close the window and blocks the user from accessing the software completely. Do they not test these things before they roll them out???
  • New Software Update Rendered It Unusable

New software update allows you to open the program but then a pop-up window appears asking you to choose privacy preferences. Once you do and hit save, the pop-up window - which cripples the program - doesn’t go away and can’t be closed. The intern that programmed this and didn’t simply confirm the program could be opened should be fired.

Does everything I want it to do. Using an older printer (MFC-J895DW), connected via Ethernet, it seems to work just fine. Rarely stops or crashes. The most useful features are the “one touch workflow” creation and the display of ink levels.
  • Useless

It can’t find the printer. I tried numerous solutions. The printer’s scans are unusable for good images. Why wouldn’t they incorporate the good scanning software into the printer software to begin with?
  • Worthless for me

iPrint&Scan apparently does not work with all Brother scanners, and fails to recognize printers that are on line and functioning. So there is a good chance that it will end up in your Trash file.
