    Every version just says “minor fixes and updates” but the last change now asks for a login when you use the app. There is still ability to skip it, for now, but I am not going to take any further updates, lest I have to login and start paying a fee to keep using my printer.

    I can make copies using the printer and they come out just fine. When using this app to scan it comes out blurry and not usable at all. The unit is clearly capable but for some reason the app itself cant seem to utilize the features. There was an alternate app for this printer that worked well but now wont even load or open. For being a big name in printers this is truely disappointng.

    After installing the printer and printing, I noticed the colors were a little off. I thought I might need to go get Brother’s drivers, so I DL this app. This app is ONLY for setting up the printer and registering it, if you choose to do that, and for signing up to receive marketing messages from Brother. It does NOT include any drivers for the printer. There are no additional drivers available after installing this software.

    Was trying to debug a network issue with my 5370DW. While chatting with Brother support they suggested downloading the print and scan software. After installing it and creating a Brother account the software told me my printer is not supported, rather disappointing.

  • Why not just make everything harder for no reason?

    Unlike every scan utility I have ever seen in my life since the 90s, you can’t specify a custom image area in the application. I can only scan one of a dozen specified paper sizes, then I have to open it in another image editing program to crop it.

  • Enough with the Registration nags

    This app has always been a reasonably useful way to do scanning on the mac, especially once brother broke the direct to the OS scanning. But the nagging and difficulty of getting rid of the popups asking me to register is pushing me over edge. Thing 1 - I already did. Thing 2 - I just loaded the app to scan things. Other then to annoy me why would you pop this annoyance-ware up?
