  • Native layback controls would be appreciated

I appreciate the content here which is why I come to New York Times Audio. Some of the content comes in podcast form, for which I already subscribe and play through Apple’s Podcast app. There are times when I’ve started audio in the podcast app and the same content is available in New York Times audio so I would want to open it and pick up where I left off. I don’t expect the New York Times audio app to know where I was in a podcast, but if I know that I’ve already heard the first 15 minutes of this, it would be good to be able to use a slider or fast-forward controls to be able to jump ahead to where I was at. In the NYT audio app, that doesn’t seem to be possible. There is a workaround, which is to use Apple’s controls from the Control Center. But, a playback app should have the ability to rewind and fast-forward natively rather than having to do a workaround
  • Good app, but currently has issues

I like the app, but I am currently have two issues: 1. The app won’t start and just hangs with a spinner, then says it needs an internet connection. 2. When I get into the app it takes over the audio channel and kills any audio I have running in another app.
  • App won’t launch

The content is what I expect, but the app is full of bugs. Recent podcasts don’t always appear in places they should. Sometimes, podcasts skip like a record. For two days, I get the spinning wheel of death and the app won’t launch. Personally, I’m also not into the “snippets” feature. It’s a very “of the moment” way of presenting information.
  • So buggy!!!

My god this app is buggy. So slow and difficult to navigate. Just listen to your NYT—produced podcasts where you listen to every other podcast.
  • No offline mode

I’ve been using this app for about a year, and it’s remarkable how laggy the app is. It takes about 3 minutes, if I’m lucky, to play an actual story on the app. Sometimes I’ll use Spotify to play the daily if the app crashes too often. There is no difference if I use WiFi or cellular data. I wish this could be a reliable app for me.

Downloaded a whole bunch of things to listen to on a flight, found I couldn’t open the app because I didn’t have an Internet connection.

I follow several shows but also like to explore in Today but I wish it was easier to scroll (the latest update just made it slightly more laborious). Specifically, one desired feature would be an x to get rid of some content I know I’m not interested in, like you can do in most feeds and even hide certain shows entirely. Or maybe just mark as read/listened. NYT will keep particular episodes of things like The Opinions or Modern Love near the top of the feed for several days. There is simply certain content I’m not interested in and it gets annoying to keep scrolling past the same thing since I’m usually trying to quickly put something on in the car. Love access to so much NYT content and love the queue!
