I used to love this app, it was fun to shoot up a quick game when bored. The ads could be annoying, and the things being held behind membership was too, but at least you could play. Recent updates have made it impossible for many people to play. Seriously… What went wrong?

As others have mentioned, it is super frustrating that the app is no longer compatible with older iOS. I used to start every morning using this App, and now I cannot. :( The games are the best and I would like to resume using my paid subscription…

Love these games. I work ost of them. Try to do them daily. Good to keep your brain busy! My favorites switch off, but Pips is a really fun addition.

I have loved playing Wordle and got the subscription and now I’m no longer able to play as my iPad is not 18.0 . I lose.
  • Make this available for older phones

Not everyone wants a new phone or wants to update and ruin their older device. This is an incredibly basic app, it should run on older versions of iOS just fine. This is literally the only app that I cannot use.
  • Leaving older devices behind

I get wanting to have everyone on the same iOS version but totally locking users out on older devices who can’t update so is bush league. Feel free to say it’s unsupported but to totally lock people out is the reason I’m giving this one star

I was surprised when I tried to update NYT Games today. Why would you make an (unnecessary) update that makes it impossible for those of us who have paid for and enjoyed the games. It still works sort of on my phone, but it on my IPad. Please fix this! You were a 5 star app - not so much now.
  • Love it but…

I have an older iPad (6th gen) and The NY Times games app will no longer run. The Times news and cooking apps still function fine on my older iPad. The Games app keeps presenting a screen forcing me to upgrade; however the latest version requires iOS 18 which is not supported on my iPad. I’ve been faithfully doing the crossword puzzle in this app for years. This is beyond disappointing. It’s irresponsible of the NYT to force an update like this on their games app. I, along with countless others, are forced to purchase a new device for the sake of this one app.

Very disappointed that they forced an update which isn’t supported by older iOS. Bad play NYT!!!
