Your battery will love this. • Private Wipr prevents countless trackers from invading your privacy. Wipr itself cannot, nor wants to, know what you do on the web. • Fast By using a new technology called Content Blocking Extensions, Wipr can do its job without slowing down Safari at all. • Up-to-date Wipr's blocklist is updated twice a week to keep up with the ever-changing web. • Honest No one can pay to unblock ads. There are no "acceptable ads". Wipr only answers to you. • Global Wipr will use an enhanced blocklist for Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese speakers. • Smart You can set up Wipr in seconds, and it will update automatically in the background to block future annoyances. There is no configuration. This app was built with love and patience. I hope you'll enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed designing and building it. What does Wipr 2 offer new? Why do I need to purchase again? Why not just keep updating this?
  • Hasn’t blocked Youtube ads for a while

I’m not sure how they can release Wipr 2 meanwhile the original Wipr app hasn’t been able to block YouTube ads reliably for the past year.
  • I haven’t seen an ad in years!

Single best app I’ve ever paid for. I forgot all about this until Wipr too just came out. I paid a few dollars for this years ago and have not seen one ad on Safari.
  • Great, BUT it doesn’t auto refresh despite claim

This is one of the best Adblock apps I have tested. It blocks effectively with our consuming excessive system resources. However, the app claims it will automatically update if you enable the setting. It DOES NOT auto refresh. After validating the proper configuration and running the app for 1 year, I can confirm the auto refresh claim is inaccurate. The user needs to remember to manually update the app. Who has time for that?! No one, nor should the consumer be required to check for feed updates for such an application. If the developer is going to claim a feature such as Auto Update, it should deliver as claimed. Other than the Auto Update problem, this is an excellent app. I wish the developer would fix the auto update problem on both iOS and MacOS.
  • Great broad-spectrum antidote to web cruft

I rarely write reviews for apps, but I’ve been using Wipr for *years* on macOS and iOS and had to make an exception. It does what is says on the tin—in addition to privacy benefits, it dramatically improves the performance of most webpages, simply by not downloading and executing worthless JavaScript. No doubt it’s saved terabytes in bandwidth and many, many kilowatts of electricity. In no uncertain terms: Wipr makes the web usable. Wipr also encouraged me to look more closely at other leaks in my household’s digital footprint—I’ve since spun up a PiHole to block tracking in other native/embedded apps, and to provide our friends and guests the same “quiet” internet experience that Wipr has given me. Thank you, Kaylee! 💞
  • Still ads

Even with every option on, you still get ads. Not worth the purchase when there is better stuff on GitHub
  • Decent… not as good as the iOS version

Both Mac and iOS versions could have a few more options or settings but the app is very religiously updated so I can’t complain, the price is justified for the continued support I think. A few more options or settings would be nice regardless. Unfortunately, this version for Mac is just not as effective as the iOS version in general it seems. Wipr on my phone immediately blocks YouTube ads with no hitches and seems to clear anything and everything ad related from popping up there. On Mac though, YouTube does detect it and so Wipr is ineffective with YouTube there, not to mention I just see a lot more ads in general when using Wipr here. Kinda disappointing considering how good iOS version is but its still decent I guess…
  • Doesn't Work on Mac Anymore

Don't listen to their website, if you don't have a completely outdated Mac, it's worthless. Doesn't block ads, let alone redirts. Worthless. Save your 2 bucks.

Now Wipr says I need extensions but the instructions to get the extensions don't work. There is no option forme to enable Wipr extensions on my Macbook and I have no idea why.... so now I can't use it. Can't find out how to get them either, thus far.
  • Good, but could be better.

Pros: Wipr is impressively power-efficient and fast. I’ve noticed with other ad blockers, my battery drains much faster and some websites become sluggish. In terms of paid options, it’s incredibly cheap compared to others that require subscriptions, and I’m happy to support an indie developer! Cons: Unfortunately, it struggles with websites that detect ad blockers. This is especially prevalent on YouTube as it refuses to play videos, even though I have it disabled on there. I think this issue is caused by “Wipr Extra” being the only one with per-website permissions in Safari’s settings. The only workaround is to completely disable Wipr, which makes it useless. A proper whitelist feature would greatly improve this functionality. Unless that happens, I’ll be switching to another ad blocker :(
