Description

The Garmin Drive™ app is a simple and convenient app solution for the latest Garmin automotive navigators and dash cams. Visit garmin.com/driveapp for a list of compatible devices. For compatible navigators, the Garmin Drive app provides real-time information for traffic, parking, advanced weather, and photoLive traffic cameras, in addition to smart notifications from your Bluetooth-enabled mobile device. For compatible dash cams, the Garmin Drive app provides quick access to camera controls, settings, and recorded footage. Up to four dash cams can be wirelessly connected with the Dash Cam Auto Sync feature to provide comprehensive coverage around a vehicle, offering various viewpoints recorded by the multiple cameras. The Garmin Drive app can create a “picture-in-picture” video from any two perspectives at the same time, making it easy to review video and also share videos with friends, insurance agencies, or legal authorities. Garmin Speak™ and Garmin DriveSmart™ 65 with Amazon Alexa are two Garmin products that bring what you love about Amazon Alexa to your vehicle. Just ask Alexa to hear music, news, and more. Also, enjoy Garmin turn-by-turn navigation. Stream the audio (music and other responses) from your vehicle’s stereo when you connect Garmin Speak to your stereo using Bluetooth® or AUX. Older Bluetooth-capable Garmin navigators are compatible with the Garmin Smartphone Link app, and older Wi-Fi-enabled Garmin dash cams can access video footage through the Garmin VIRB app.

  • Consistent connectivity issues

I’ve had connectivity issues with my OTR 800 from the beginning, but it only started as a minor inconvenience. Over the last few months it’s been getting progressively less reliable. Both in disconnecting randomly while driving, as well as being incredibly frustrating in not wanting to reconnect. Being that there has been major iOS software updates since the previous DEZL update, I’m guessing that is where the issue most likely lies. Why wouldn’t a company as used as this, update their apps monthly or quarterly, bare minimum?!?

In a world full of idiots you better get it on camera to protect yourself. this is an amazing camera. I wish I would’ve bought it long ago.

  • For the money we spend.

For a company of this scale, the state of its software is inexplicable. The programming is crude, the interface is clumsy, and the entire ecosystem feels frozen in the era of plastic dashboard GPS units. The mediocrity of the software drags down the hardware itself, leaving the overall experience looking dated and careless.

Handy and well worth the download. You can manage videos, trim captures down for saving, personalize device settings, and is easy to use. Downsides are the load times for videos/live feeds and the issue with subscribing to Vault (has to be done manually through Garmin’s website). Overall, I would recommend getting this app if you own a Garmin dash camera!
  • Trash for Mini 3

The Wi-Fi video quality from my Mini 3 looks terrible — blurry, pixelated, and nothing like the clear 1080p footage I get when I pull the SD card and view it on a laptop. On top of that, the app disconnects constantly, making it almost impossible to reliably download clips. Worst of all, it won’t work at the same time as wireless Apple CarPlay, so I have to keep reconnecting my phone just to access the dash cam. For a premium brand, this app feels unfinished and incredibly frustrating to use. Trash.
