I got this app for my son for screen time management and to make sure he is not looking at inappropriate things but instead it did all these things on his phone I didn’t ask for. The app deleted HIS apps when he would customize them for his Home Screen it would restart and delete all his work blocked him off everything on safari took away his camera after the screen time management I asked support crew for help or how to change it, and they didn’t.

While I am a child writing this, it is TERRIBLE! I usually dont mind these kind of apps, but the amount of PRIVACY I get is MINIMAL! MY APPS ARE UNORGANIZED!I HAVE NO PRIVACY! MY PARENTS CAN SEE WHAT I AM WATCHING ON YOUTUBE! You guys think this is good? Well it is not. Don’t get this, just get a normal VPN and a safeer family app.

    1. When the Norton companion app is installed properly and set up and the phone shuts off, regardless the reason, when the phone turns back on notifications start popping up saying for example, that using the Amazon Prime app and the Amazon shopping app is violating the house rules when Amazon is not part of the house rules. Same with Microsoft apps. And the only way to get it to stop happening is to reset the phone, sometimes multiple times. This app is absolutely inept. 2. Norton Ad blocker doesn’t work on the Norton Family Companion app and the browser is terrible. When doing a search you have to scroll down through a half a dozen to a dozen paid ads before finally getting to the actual search results. Then when you do go to the result you want the page is full of ads and Heaven forbid if there are video ads. Then the video ad takes over the web page and if you close it the video ad opens up again and again and again. And I am paying a subscription for this? And the subscription is not cheap. I expect much better for something I am paying significant money for. There has not been an update on the Norton Family Companion app for 2 months. When are you guys going to either fix the app or scrap it and make one that actually works?

I am a child who’s strict parents installed this on their phone. I don’t understand why this exists. As one of the previous reviews stated, a parent-child relationship should be based around trust. Monitoring everything they do on their phone is an absolute trust breaker. I should be able to decide when to tell my parents certain things, they shouldn’t find out by looking through my personal items. Children deserve privacy as well. This review was kind of rushed so I apologize if it isn’t the best quality.
  • Unable to access local network printer

Since I have installed this app on my son’s iPad, he is not able to access the local network printer through AirPrint. In local network privacy, the app has not requested local network access. Not sure if that’s the bug.

This is the lowest rating I have ever put on any app. Coming from a 13 year old 7th grader this app is so bad that sometimes I BEG my mom to take it off my devices. It has got to the point that even my dad has stared to talk to my mom to uninstall this app and for good reasons. For example this at a certain time it shuts off all apps except for Safari, text, and call. That is not even the worst of it the worst is the notifications. My parents have been absolutely bombard by emails, texts, and notifications ever since we got this. I would say the only good part about this app is you can check the YouTube and other videos that the users watches. But it is literally just a waste of money because you can just go into history on mobile or pc and just check it there. Another bad part and for me the worst part for me is when you are trying to play a game like Fortnight or Roblox and a timer telling you how much time you have left just appears in the middle of you screen. It is genuinely so annoying and I have hit my keyboard a few times because of it. Also maybe the worst part is you pay for this thing. Finally I have seen the mobile app that my mom has to control it and it looks like a 21 year old with no experience tried to make a website for it. It is like trying to do it exponents on your hand with a stick. It is so complicated and even when you go to the help section it does the opposite only making it more confusing. I know I have been ranting about this but it is so genuinely bad you mine as well check history and time yourself. If you read this whole thing thanks because I have a hatred for this app and I hope you don’t ever experience this. Have a great day and thanks again.
  • Why such a low rating? THIS APP IS AWESOME

Some people might hate this app, but I think it is really good. My dad put this on my phone, so now he can limit how many games I can play. This helped me do better in school. Thank you Norton 💯🔥🔥💯

I know others left reviews but no not get the app!! It is not easy to uninstall, messes everything up if you search for pictures you can’t see them even on social platforms, if you have an iPhone you have to log into your Apple ID every time your parents turn off your phone, you can’t really do anything with this app, messes up your WiFi and everything, protects the most useless’s things ever, just don’t bother getting the app for your kids or anyone.

I can’t access any apps except for the ones come with your phone when you buy it (excluding safari). Such as all Apple apps. I can’t FaceTime either, nor can I use the Norton app for web browsing, like I was instructed
