Description

Keep control of your news reading with Reeder Classic, RSS reader and read later client in one app, now with support for iCloud syncing. FEEDS Sync all your feeds and articles with iCloud. Reeder Classic comes with a built-in RSS/Feeds service which will keep everything in sync on all your devices. Of course, this is optional. You can still just use one of the many third-party services supported by Reeder or just RSS (without sync). READ LATER This is Reeder's built-in read later service which stores all your data securely in iCloud. A sharing extension allows you to add links from outside of Reeder. BIONIC READING A higher dimension of reading. With Bionic Reading you read texts with more focus, awareness, and sustainability. Read more about Bionic Reading at bionic-reading.com. MARK AS READ ON SCROLL With version 5, Reeder finally supports marking items as read while scrolling. Off by default, this can be enabled on a per-account basis. READER VIEW Enter Reader View (for feed items and read later links that support this) for a clutter-free reading experience directly in Reeder's article viewer. You can enable "Automatic Reader View" on a per-feed basis to always load items of a feed with Reader View. SUPPORTED THIRD-PARTY SERVICES Feedbin, Feedly, FeedHQ, NewsBlur, The Old Reader, Inoreader, BazQux Reader, FreshRSS, Instapaper and Pocket.

Maybe it’s coincidence, but since the release of the new Reeder, I’ve noticed more bugs on both the Mac and iOS version. Hope this isn’t a worsening trend. Reeder is still the best overall!
  • Best RSS out there “classic”

This app is so well put together, the radical change to the ‘new’ all-in-one version should NOT share the same name at all. This is the real Reeder, best of class. The other isn’t nearly as customizable, and is simply trying to do too much with less user control. Oh well, hope this one keeps on developing and improving over time!
  • Almost Perfect

I’ve tried so many feed readers (including the new Reeder) and none compare to Reeder Classic. So polished and well-designed with perfect keyboard shortcuts. But it doesn’t have keyword muting like Newsify, and that’s what keeps it from being a five-star app. There are topics I have zero interest in reading about, and being able to have their keywords automatically mark items as “read” so they don’t even show up in my “unread” feed is critical to my sanity. That’s ALL I wanted in a new version of Reeder, but we got something entirely different that still doesn’t have keyword muting (that I can find). Really hope the developer continues to add features to Classic so we can get keyword muting one day and have the perfect RSS app! I’d gladly pay for that upgrade!
  • No longer supports FreshRSS

I used this app happily for several months. After an update it stopped working with FreshRSS. I tried removing and re-adding FreshRSS and Reeder says there’s something wrong with the Internet connection. I checked by FreshRSS API and everything is healthy.

I have literally tried all the other RSS readers out there, including Newsify, Fiery, ReadKit, News Explorer, Artykul, Lire, Inoreader, and countless others not worth mentioning. I've also spent more money than I needed to, trying to find the best one. I'm giving Reeder 5 stars because it works so well on my Mac, iPad, and iPhone. It's currently the best that I've tried. With that said, there are still two features that I desperately need to make this perfect, so I hope the app developers are reading. The first, is an AI summarize button. Some articles are so long in the tooth and have so much fluff, I have to spend a minute (at least) reading 3/4 into an article to find the meat and potatoes. It's a complete waste of time. This button would save me countless hours per week. I'm happy to add in my OpenAI API key to send the text and wait a second to get a summary. Please add this ASAP. The second feature I desperately need, and Inoreader does this best, is the ability to keyword filter/exclude. I'm tired of hearing about certain topics covered by all the RSS feeds I subscribe to. Mostly politics. If I could add key words to get those topics out of my life, it would reduce the noise and make my life happier. Please add these two things and I promise I will never look for another RSS reader ever again.

I share the ICloud feed on my devices. It was working fine until my Mac stopped syncing the feed. Upn reinstalling the app, I can no longer connect my iCloud feed.

  • iCloud Account No Longer Syncing

Although I still think this is the Best RSS Reader App for macOS, after a recent update, the iCloud Account shows that it's syncing, but never actually syncs. I use Feedly, too, and this still works fine- just the iCloud sync has stopped working, and for me on two Macs, an iPad, and an iPhone.
