Description

Keep control of your news reading with Reeder Classic, RSS reader and read later client in one app, now with support for iCloud syncing. FEEDS Sync all your feeds and articles with iCloud. Reeder Classic comes with a built-in RSS/Feeds service which will keep everything in sync on all your devices. Of course, this is optional. You can still just use one of the many third-party services supported by Reeder or just RSS (without sync). READ LATER This is Reeder's built-in read later service which stores all your data securely in iCloud. A sharing extension allows you to add links from outside of Reeder. BIONIC READING A higher dimension of reading. With Bionic Reading you read texts with more focus, awareness, and sustainability. Read more about Bionic Reading at bionic-reading.com. WIDGETS View most recent articles, configurable to only show items from feeds, folders, searches (for services that support searches) or tags (for read later services). MARK AS READ ON SCROLL With version 5, Reeder finally supports marking items as read while scrolling. Off by default, this can be enabled on a per-account basis. READER VIEW Enter Reader View (for feed items and read later links that support this) for a clutter-free reading experience directly in Reeder's article viewer. You can enable "Automatic Reader View" on a per-feed basis to always load items of a feed with Reader View. SUPPORTED THIRD-PARTY SERVICES Feedbin, Feedly, FeedHQ, NewsBlur, The Old Reader, Inoreader, BazQux Reader, FreshRSS, Instapaper and Pocket.

  • Was great, now wasting away

This has been abandoned in favor of the new Reeder, which is a worse app in nearly every respect. Such a shame because this was the best in class and now it’s wasting away with small but annoying display issues in iOS 26 that will only worsen with time. I’m off to find a new alternative, and that alternative will not be the new Reeder.

I don’t care if it hasn’t been updated in 5 months. For all intents and purposes this app is still the best in its class.

I've attempted to report a bug in the app several times over the last month but have received no response. It seems the developer has moved on to the new version of Reeder and renamed this one “classic.” I had high hopes that this was going to be the perfect RSS reader, and while it's close, it's pretty hard to live with a glaring bug that causes gigantic margins on my iPad mini.

Please don’t abandon this app for the new social media style app you made. The new app is NOT how I want to consume my feeds. I want an RSS Reader for that. I can use social media apps if I was interested in infinite scrolling.
  • It’s broken and no Liquid Glass

I’ve used Reeder since v1 back in the day and always supported the developer each new version (on multiple OS’s). But this one seems to be left out to pasture. It opens the wrong articles and doesn’t reliably sync. Plus there’s no Liquid Glass support. The new version 5 is not a suitable replacement either. So I’ve gone to a different app.
  • Close to perfect

Reeder Classic is so close to perfect. Integrates with my self hosted FreshRSS instance, and makes it where I have to do almost no subscription management from FreshRSS directly. It’s also very customizable, with lots of reading options. The only fly in the ointment is it doesn’t remember my reading position in long articles. Many articles are too long to read in one sitting so I want to come back and finish later. Sometimes when I leave the app and come back, my reading position has been reset. Always if I switch to another article and come back it resets me to the top. This is a huge buzzkill because I waste a lot of time trying to find where I left off.
  • Used to be the best

Unfortunately it seems this app is being discontinued and only getting minor maintenance releases, but even those are becoming fewer and far between
  • Unusable

Sadly the bug has not been fixed yet and articles are still not being pulled up it just shows a blank page which can only be fixed to kick the app and reload.
  • Just use it

Probably ¾ of my iPhone use is with this app. You can organize and follow the news and writing you want to see and keep track simply. The new version isn't as good at handling as many feeds as this because everything is put into one giant pile. If you want to keep organized by theme or interest, this version is far better. It would be nice if both versions used the same OPML source, but I didn't find that to be possible. I am sticking with this version.
  • Great app, weird choices

If you are looking for an RSS reader app, this one works fine. They turned on a weird “Bionic Reading” thing by default recently though, and I kind of wish they hadn’t done that. 🤷‍♂️ no idea why
