  • Used to be great

Many design decisions that ensh!itified the experience for me. Subscription only, you cannot use an offline password database, no longer fills multiple fields as part of some logins, no longer fills TOTP passwords. I’m sure their decisions net them more money in the end. Decided to switch to Bitwarden since I have to keep my password db in the cloud anyway.

Knock off version of the real 1password. Could not even delete off my computer!
  • Poor Support

I’m a long time 1Password customer and have been plagued by an annoying bug that will not allow me to use Touch ID without using Apple Watch. Development is unable to or unwilling to prioritize the fix and support is less than helpful/empathetic to the issue. I was considering purchasing 1Password for my midsized company but am pumping the brakes.
  • Slow and annoying

The 1Password service is great. The app not so much. I hate that you need both the app AND the extension for each browser you use (Safari and Chrome for me) to be able to use it smoothly. Even then you need to keep the app open for the extensions to remain unlocked, otherwise you need to re-enter you password every time you need to use it. Then the app itself takes forever to open and pop up the password prompt window or trigger the biometrics input (Apple Watch for me).
  • Terrible User Experience and Finicky

It’s all kinds of weird that there’s STILL the problem that frequently prevents fingerprint unlock/Touch ID from unlocking 1Password, which is bad user experience (UX). Touch ID will just randomly stop working to unlock 1Password, requiring users to enter their 1Password Master Password to use Touch ID—very much ironic and completely defeats the purpose of Touch ID. Would be great if 1Password could finally care enough to fix this annoying problem, or simply inform its customers that it refuses to fix this problem.
  • Good SW but bad support

Have been using 1Password for many. many years and really liked it. I decided to migrate to an online account so i can have more devices accessing 1Password. The migration has been a disaster and tech support worse. You can’t talk or even chat with a person. It’s all by email. They email something to do. You do it in a few minutes and then reply and wait hours or overnight for them to get back to you. If you use passwords management regularly I would not rely on their tech support. Go somewhere else. I’m stuck because of how much I already have in the eco system.
  • Great, but no expiring alerts?

Great, but where’s my “Uh-oh, your passport is expiring soon” alert? Love 1Password, but why no proactive expiry reminders? Watchtower shows expiring passports, cards, and licenses, but I have to remember to check it. A simple push notification or email like “Renew your passport unless you love airport meltdowns” would be a game-changer. Make 1Password the life admin hero it was meant to be! 🚀
  • SOOO done once Apple adds notes/files in their Password app

Sick of 1P8 not being in the App Store. Sick of the app turning into an Electron app, wild UI/UX inconsistencies on MacOS now because of that. Apple came so close with breaking out the Passwords app, but once it gets a notes field and attachments to their app, first thing I’m gonna do is migrate (20 years of history!) and delete 1P!
  • It works!

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about: it works just as well as the Chrome version!
  • Good App with weak security

Among the password managers that work across Apple devices, this is about the best, but security is weak on the MAC app. Probably fine for many, but weak for more demanding users. It relies solely on a strong password and offers no option for 2FA or a passkey.
