Description

1Password has been helping folks forget their passwords since 2006. Trusted by millions of people and more than 150,000 businesses, "1Password offers the best combination of features, compatibility, security, and ease of use" among password managers, according to The New York Times Wirecutter. == Generate strong passwords == Use the built-in password generator to create strong, unguessable passwords with a tap, then access those secure passwords on any device. 1Password works across popular operating systems as a browser extension, mobile app, or desktop app. == Sign in automatically == Autofill your username and saved passwords when signing in to websites or apps. 1Password for iPhone and iPad works with Safari and apps so you can sign in to your online accounts without the hassle. You can even download a dedicated 1Password for Safari browser extension for even more seamless integration. == Built-in two-factor authentication == 1Password can also create and autofill one-time two-factor authentication codes for services that support 2FA, so there’s no need for a separate authenticator app – and no more copying and pasting. == Industry-leading passkey support == Did you know there’s a more convenient and secure alternative to passwords? They’re called passkeys, and you can generate and save those in 1Password, too – and even use them to unlock 1Password. For sites that support passkeys, you’ll never have to generate another password. == Sign in with other providers == If you sign in to websites or apps with Apple or other providers in a web browser, you can store and sign in with those logins in 1Password, too. == Secure and organize your digital life == Faster sign-ins are only the beginning. In addition to managing passwords and passkeys, you can store credit cards, secure notes, banking info, medical records, and anything else you want to protect in 1Password, so your most valuable personal information is always available on any device. == Share anything, securely == Share passwords and anything you store in 1Password with anyone, even if they don’t use 1Password. Securely (and temporarily) share Wi-Fi details, financial information, and other sensitive info with friends, family, or colleagues to keep that information out of insecure channels like email and messaging apps. == Security made easy == Strong password generation is a big win for your personal security, but 1Password is much more than a password vault. Security features include unlocking 1Password with biometric authentication (including Touch ID or Face ID), and real-time security alerts and reporting through Watchtower. You’ll know immediately if your accounts are compromised in a data breach, so you can take the necessary action. == Travel Mode == Protect your data from prying eyes while traveling with Travel Mode. Temporarily hide vaults containing sensitive information and restore them when you’re home. == Uniquely secure, completely private == Protect yourself and your family from cyber criminals with 1Password’s unique, industry-leading security. We can’t see your 1Password data, so we can’t use it, share it, or sell it. Learn more about our security model at 1Password.com/security. == Get started for free == Try 1Password free for 14 days, then find the plan that's right for you or your business. On my Mac the extension never works. I have to unlock, then relaunch, then reload the page just to get the password fill prompt to work. It is unbelievably broken and has been for months.

I have used 1Password across countless devices for more than 10 years. I have used it in my home office, and while traveling in and out of the country — and it has never let me down. The software has only improved with every year. The developers continuously find ways to elevate the user experience. Highly recommend this rock-solid password management solution.
  • Auto-login behavior

I’m a longtime user and find 1Password to be the best password manger I’ve tried. But lately there seem to have been some changes that have caused issues. It seems the auto-login is now the default selection after auto-fill. I have not wanted the auto-fill option, but recently that has been the selected option after a 1Password update. And then I need to go into each browser and de-select this auto-login option. It would seem the highest (and best) security option would be to default to NO auto-login. When going to a website with several login items (e.g. multiple logins for a google account), the best option is to JUST auto-fill, AND THEN GIVE THE OPTION TO REVIEW BEFORE SUBMITTING THE LOGIN. I don’t wish to check the settings each time to make sure 1PW is NOT set to auto-fill. Please change the default setting for this option to NO auto-login.

I’ve used 1Password since the beginning. But now that you have to be online for it to work this app seems to be going downhill. In fact, several times tech support has told me you can access your information while offline and each time they have come back and said it isn’t possible. No one is online 24/7. But we still need access to our information while offline. .
  • Lost all my passwords with updates

I have used this password app for 10+ years and it's always worked fine. Since the update though the app no longer accepts my password to open the app. I was never able to set up the backup features because I did not have a paid account so now there is no way for me to get into the app. Customer service tried to provide a few options but none have worked because I was not able to set up any of the backup options without the paid account. Now, without any notice, I have lost all of my passwords from 10+ years because of an update.
  • Horrible Mobile experience

I love 1password on my laptop but it's a horrible experience on Mobile. The only way to use it is all manual cut and paste. None of the integrations work on iphone and when it fails you have to reenter the master password right away. While I recommend 1password as a service, this app is terrible.

Like a lot of users. I stuck with version 7 for a very long time because the first few iterations of the current version 8 were just not good. After a few months. I upgraded to version 8 when it was pretty stable and the good folks at 1Password have been doing a great job pumping out fixes and enhancements, and becoming more responsive when it comes to addressing major issues, for a good long while now. So, I’m updating my review. I am very pleased to have a very well put together app that behaves itself much more often than not. (It did take some getting used to, but now I like it.) Pending fixes for known issues and a couple ERs, I’m sticking with a 4-star review for the app - the 1Password service gets 5-stars for sure. I never would have quit my very longtime subscription to 1Password over the release of a mobile app (I kept version 7 around as backup for a while). I can use Proton Pass for free and then there’s Apple first attempt at a password manager. But, I will keep paying for a far superior and much more established service. For technical, reputation, functional, and many other reasons, 1Password is the best password management service to invest in, and I still highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking.
