Description

Voice Dream Reader lets you listen to PDF documents, Web articles, and eBooks using text-to-speech. Although it is designed for people with visual impairment, dyslexia, ADHD, and other reading challenges, everyone can benefit. Your documents become audiobooks, so you can read while you walk, exercise or do chores. For productivity-minded people, with some practice, you can read at twice your sight-reading speed. Unlike audiobooks, you can highlight, take notes, and see the words as they're spoken to improve comprehension and retention. Voice Dream Reader for iOS is a 2021 Apple Design Award Winner, and it's been featured by Apple as Best New App and App of the Day in 81 countries. Using the award-winning iOS app as building blocks, we wrote Voice Dream Reader Desktop from ground up as a native macOS app with a completely redesigned user interface. The result is a full-featured, desktop-class application fully optimized for the Mac. ACCOLADES "Both experts recommend Voice Dream Reader as the best app in the text-to-speech space." - Wired “This app is one of the best educational finds of my entire career.” - Forbes “As a user myself and as a mother of a child with dyslexia, I am blown away by the features of Voice Dream.” - Quartz FEATURES Library - Manage all your reading material in one place. - Organize in folders. This does not let you get past the prompt during setup that recommends you use Enhanced Voices. I’ve installed Enhanced Voices and it did not let me proceed, but not before it had me start a trial. Now I have a 7 day trial for a product I cannot use. I guess I will cancel and uninstall.
  • OCR ruined with latest update

I used to love this app but the latest update has rendered OCR completely useless for me which is a feature I use all the time so the app is essentially useless for me now
  • Simple but works very well

This app works superbly well compared to most competitors in reading text aloud in multiple languages. It is simple and does not always have the best voice syntithiser, but its one can read along very well with the originally formatted text.
  • hard to get a refund

It would not load my PDF so I cancelled within minutes but my account on their own website even SAYS it is inactive, yet a week later they still charged me $80. When I emailed them immediately about it, a form letter said I had to deal with Apple. I immediately submitted a claim to Apple and a week later, I had not heard back. I disputed the charge through my bank and a couple days later, I finally got the refund.

I decided to give it a shot but it immediately tried to charge my card, even though I selected trial. Not happening.
  • Difficulties with the Computer Application

I have enjoyed using the Reader, and I have used it for quite some time. Although I could only use it on my phone for about a year, I continued paying. The computer application would not work, and I was unable to get in touch with support despite having tried to reach out through many different mediums. I didn't get my money's worth for about a year. It seems as if the application works again on my Mac -- great!

Ask’s for a OCR and I wait along time and it just does that over and over
  • Free trial social engineering

Free trial pathing requires the creation of an account and interface pretends it is macOS asking for Apple Account information.

The ‘Voice Dream Reader’ app is a wonderful app, which I have been using for years. But the TTS voices that the Acapela-Group no longer support like ‘TTS Heather’ need to be removed from the download list. I used 'TTS Heather' for years, and I am sad to see it go. www.acapela-group.com/voices/repertoire/
