I want my money back as well as the time wasted to set this convoluted app up. Gave it several hours of input resulting in what could be accomplished more easily with pen and paper or just thinking.
  • Requires Separate Purchase for Each Device

Its functional, but I am not particularly happy that it now wants me to buy another version for my phone. Each device requires a separate purchase. $10 seemed fair for a slightly better designed to-do app from Reminders, but def not enough new functionality to justify $20

Things 3 is truly amazing. I’ve used it for three years and it has everything you need without being overly complex. The ONLY downside is the price is you have it on your iphone, Macbook, and iPad, but even that isn’t bad. Like I’ve said, I’ve used it for three years, so it comes out far cheaper than any other monthly subscription app over the long-run.
  • I’ve loved this app for many years but I wish it had better formatting options.

I’ve been using Things since the original way back when and it has really been a huge part of my life over the years. It’s a fantastic task manager / Life organizer and I have it on all my devices. There is really only one thing that hasn’t really bothered me until recently and that is the lack of formatting options. I’ve been dabbling with the native Notes app and I’m really enjoying the formatting options there and I’m wishing Things had them too. I know we can use special characters now to bolden or italicize in Things 3, but I’m feeling seduced by the native Notes app with the way formatting works there. I much prefer navigating around in Things 3 and I like that Things 3 is an actual Task Manager but I just wish the text formatting was like it is in the native Notes app. That’s my only pet peeve with this app.
  • Dearly LOVE this app, but not a recent change…

UPDATE: THE LAST APP UPDATE BROKE SOMETHING IN HOW EACH TASK REACTS TO TAPS. NOW, AFTER I TAP ON A TASK, THEN TAP OUTSIDE OF THAT SAME TASK, IT OFTEN NO LONGER COLLAPSES FOR ME TO WORK ON A DIFFERENT TASK. THIS HAS ALWAYS WORKED SEAMLESSLY, UNTIL NOW—PLEASE FIX ASAP!!! THIS IS A HUGE TIME-WASTER! I HAVE TO COMPLETELY CLEAR THE ENTIRE APP OUT OF MEMORY, AND RESTART IT, TO BE ABLE TO PROPERLY USE IT AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY NOW. I ALWAYS SPLIT MY SCREEN, AND HAVE TWO INSTANCES OF THINGS OPEN CONCURRENTLY, SIDE BY SIDE—WHICH IS A TIME SAVER WITH WORK FLOW; BUT THIS GLITCH MAKES ME HAVE TO DO ALL OF THAT OVER AND OVER AGAIN MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. PLEASE FIX ASAP!!! THIS IS PAINFUL. WILL CHANGE RATING BACK TO FIVE STARS WHEN THIS IS FIXED—ITS THAT IMPORTANT!!! THANKS! (PAST REVIEW): Time fails me to describe how much I love and use this app. I regret spending more time here, describing my one complaint, than my thousands of reasons I love this app. However, this complaint is only written in high hopes that it will precipitate a fix from the fantastic Things 3 team. Here’s the problem…. It used to be that when simply moving a task from “Evening” to “Day” or from “Day” to “Evening,” that task would go—very nicely and predictably—to the very top of either of those portions of the list—which aided in task shuffling speed and efficiency (especially for task-heavier days). However, ever since one of the most recent updates, now moving any task from “Evening” to “Day” places that task somewhere at the BOTTOM of “Day” (instead of the top, and even then not always exactly at the bottom—it might be 2nd or 3rd or more from the bottom, with no discernible pattern to this new behavior). On the other hand, more often than not, when moving a task from “Day” to “Evening”; the task does not move to the very top of that portion of the list; but often randomly must be sought for and found within the first 8 to 10 items at the top of that list (again, no clear discernible pattern to this logic, either). If one’s lists were only 20-50 items (light users); this may not matter so much. However, for heavier (power users), who may have hundreds of tasks to prioritizie and timeline each day; this becomes a cumbersome and unnecessary speed bump. Please fix! Long story short, I use this app so much, it is not unusual for me to have 500 to 900+ tasks on a given day. That many tasks require a lot of sorting coupled with a lot of efficiency—or list fatigue becomes impossibly overwhelming! So this new (presumed) glitch, causing this new unpredictability in every-day, simple task moves is not helpful, but detrimental and a drag to productivity. Otherwise, I still LOVE and use Things 3–more than any other app on my devices! As a very heavy user of this app, I humbly feel I have decent feedback on what improves this app, versus what does not. Much gratitude, in advance, to the great Things 3 team, for considering / fixing this unnecessary glitch / problem.
  • Only one real grievance

Cultured code delivers in performance and beauty with Things 3 but, one real issue I have is when setting a date or when I’m going to do a certain task the calendar pops up I choose the date then it goes away, I have to select again to then sent the time of my reminder. I thought this was a bug it’s not, it’s how they designed it. Makes no sense. Let me choose a date and reminder time then give me the option to press done when I’m actually done. Maybe make this process optional in settings??
  • Disappointed in keyboard checklists

I’m a big fan and longtime user. As a heavy user of checklists, I really don’t like that the behavior is not the same as Mac. I can’t ctrl+a to select multiple items. I cannot hold shift and arrow up/down to select multiple items. And when I paste checklists it always adds in new and empty rows. I wish it would be exactly the same as Mac
  • Crashing

Is it time for an update? The iOS app has been unstable lately and is crashing frequently, especially, when I try to search tasks. Any plan for things 4?

After a deep dive with ChatGPT into my unique working style, Things 3 came highly recommended—and wow, was it spot on. This app is everything I didn’t know I needed. It’s clean, intuitive, and powerful without being overwhelming. I’ve tried so many task managers over the years, but Things just gets how my brain works. Since switching, my productivity has skyrocketed. I love how easy it is to capture ideas, organize projects, and stay focused without constant tweaking. It’s now the backbone of my daily workflow, and I honestly can’t imagine going back. Total game-changer.
  • Clean, Powerful, but Unintuitive

Pluses: 1) Clean, attractive interface; 2) Subtle & Powerful features once you find them 3) One & done—buy once, cry once. No subscriptions!! Minuses: 1) Unintuitive, rather steep learning curve. So-so tutoring resources. Have to go YouTube for help. 2) Powerful features buried, proprietary names for features. 3) No web interface—WHY?!? 4) Apply only, no Windows or Android. 5) Difficult to try before you buy.
