The app is free but it doesn't work without paying for a subscription.

Kind of a waste of time, very unnatural clunky sounding like any text to voice reader from 20 years ago. You can change the voice, although it’s a clunky mechanism, because you think you already did, and then have to fiddle around with obtuse interface. Plus, I don’t need 100 different voices, if they all are going to be in a jarring Stephen Hawking robot staccato.

I’m not very happy for the update… I now have lost all my data I have worked on for several years apps I paid for don’t work now! Can’t down loaded the app
  • Easily the worst AI reader I have ever used

I see all the good reviews, and I’m sitting here scratching my head absolutely baffled. This is the most robotic broken, sounding AI. I’ve ever heard when it comes to these reader apps I feel like AI technology is so advanced. I don’t know how something this far back has such great reviews. Maybe ChatGPT just spoiled me with how fluid their voices are but I’ve even heard the other reader app AI people who cost around the same and they sound like normal. Humans are reading it. This sounds like 1000% of robot is I don’t understand how y’all handled this enough to give it a high rating, but I am not in that boat

I've been using this app for over a year and it's the most affordable & consistent reading app I've come across. The voices are realistic and you can even use your own personal voice for reading. I would highly recommend!
  • Best One By Far - EXCEPT Voices

By far the best test to speech app out there. Mostly because of all the amazing features and ease of importing files. Losing Pocket sucked but that’s not this app’s fault. So brining in web articles is a bit more difficult, Instapaper helps a little bit. I know ppl complain about the costs and everything but I promise it’s worth it. I have a ton of epubs and text files of books/articles/web stories that I’ve downloaded or created over the years and this is the best way to listen to them while I’m busy at other stuff. THE ONLY CRITICISM I have is with all the recent advances in Ai voices the selection for voices is pretty weak. Even the new set of purchasable Ai voices are pretty far behind the best ones out there. If the app ever integrates or has voices similar to grok or ChatGPT or ElevenLabs voices then it would dominate all other text to speech apps.
