  • Confusing design choices

Update 6/25: They’ve now put a hallucinatory LLM transcription box overtop of the episode description, so I get a half accurate text version of an ad for Chevy blocking the actual useful information the podcast author included. Increasingly I get the feeling this app is being designed by product owners that do not use it or listen to podcasts at all. Lots of extremely questionable features being added that treats listening to podcasts like it’s listening to music. Who in their right mind is shuffling random episodes, or just letting The Algorithm decide what to play next? Podcasts are hours-long conversations, why would I want to not expect what I’m gonna hear?

Nothing to see or do without paying. Free trial available. Leaving a review so I remember why I deleted it.
  • AI Transcript doesn't work but 10% of the time

Great idea to have AI transcription, unfortunately it never works. It always displays a "sorry" message that it had issues. More bells and whistles but no sortable search results.
  • Yay disabling of lock scrubbing!

I was just about to head to a competitor when I saw you added similar functionality to disable scrubbing in the Lock Screen. I can’t tell you how many times my butt has scrubbed to the end of a podcast and then archived it.

I’ve been using pocket casts for years and it just continues to stand out as an app built to delight podcast listeners not just try to get our time.

Absolutely the BEST “podcast player” app I have ever used! Very grateful to my son for putting me on to it!
  • Folders gone without warning - now a paid feature? 👎

I bought the app back when it was a one-time-purchase. To have a feature I’ve been using for years suddenly require a subscription is annoying. I put a lot of thought into my folders and now they’re just gone? If I subscribe, will they come back? The UI doesn’t say. Update: I was never a Plus subscriber. I “imported” my license when I switched to iOS. I guess that granted me access to the Plus features for a while, but someone has decided to stop grandfathering me in. That seems a pretty poor way to treat a very long term user who has recommended the product to a lot of people. Oh, and bookmarks are gone now too! :(
  • Where are the episodes?

Just added this app because I love the ability to organize, but I can’t find episodes to some of my podcasts that I was listening to on Apple Podcasts. One podcast is listed on pocket casts but with none of the episodes under it… help! Am I doing something wrong?!?!
  • Constant issues with this app

I’ve used Pocket Casts as my main podcast app for many years and it has nearly constant issues that make it very frustrating to use. The sound cuts out completely on the regular requiring me to restart the app and find my place only to have it happen again right away. This morning it is pausing on its own over and over (not a Bluetooth issue - I have checked). The issues are with Pocket Casts and not the podcast stream because it stops happening if I switch to a different app. The reason I have stayed with Pocket Casts so long is I love the interface and I would pay for premium to use the folders feature, but not until the glitches, that have gone unfixed for years according to other users, are resolved. I still have hope! This app has so much potential to be perfect.
