  • Game breaking bug

Sadly unable to complete this play through due to a control bug. Fighting the red dragon in the temple of the ancients, a tough fight - whenever I attempt to use a phoenix down, the game registers multiple taps of the a button and automatically uses the phoenix down on the same character who is using it. This makes it impossible to revive fallen party members. Using iPhone 16 Plus on iOS 18.4
  • Input issue with all controllers

All controllers register double inputs on face and shoulder buttons. Issue is within the game itself. Tried backbone, kishi, DualShock, etc all do it.
  • Not playable now

I’ve had this app for years, but they have apparently abandoned it. It is very hard to play now. Want to cure? Nah, attack yourself. The menu and battle system are not functional. Buttons do random things. It has been almost a year since I saw this was unplayable. My favorite game ever is now unplayable on my iPhone. Do not buy until you see an update and more recent reviews say it is fixed.
  • Bring a controller

Overall the game plays well enough, and scratches the itch to play through again on the go. My 3 stars is not about the game itself, but the functionality of the port. Without a Backbone controller, the game would be unplayable for me (iPhone 16 pro max). I’m getting, very easily replicated, multi A button strikes on one hit. It feels like it’s about 3 rapid A strikes after hitting the button once. It ruins fighting and basic tasks. This issue disappears with the presence of a controller.
  • How to fix the problems.

I see a lot of people say that they like the port but there is some problems. But the main one is that when you press the A button, it repeats. but you wanna know how to fix this? JUST RESTART THE APP! Anyway. Love this game
  • Bugs make the game unplayable

Selecting one menu item cause all following selections to be made automatically. Clicking item selects the item before you get a chance to choose.
  • In Game Control Pad Faulty

Everything works correctly except the “A” button, which activates multiple times with each press. This makes the game unplayable. Pity, because I love the game, just not on my iPhone 15.
  • Good game hidden behind lack of updates

The port is good, and I only had one instance of a crash happen from the game. However… You gotta say it how it is, the port isn’t enough. Modders aren’t enough either. You can throw paint on an old house with cracked walls, but the cracks can still be seen or are still there. Bugs have never been addressed. Character text was never improved. The screen resolution feels like it was never adjusted for phones after the iPhone 5. Mini-games could be touched up to work better. Battles feel sluggish when your ATB stops when any enemy attacks. Battle menu UI is not fun to work with. Normal menu-ing is bad. Nothing was adjusted or improved after 25+ years. Ultimate Weapon is a chore to chase down and fight. The snowboard mini-game at some point breaks itself when too many trees are present. There’s little incentive to grind or look for anything hidden in the game. Things that are hidden with no visible indicators are what can kill this entirely. This was fixed in the Pixel Remasters. Still, you might as well buy this game if you want to see Final Fantasy 7. There’s little to no chance of them remastering the game at this point when every video says FF7 is a perfect game, and people should look to it for game design…

I downloaded this game and it has frozen every time I try to start the game. I loved the OG FF8 but sadly this doesn’t play on the new iOS
