The app hasn’t blocked any spam calls or text messages and I see no way to shut off the automatic renewal. Sucker play.

Hiya does a decent job of identifying spam calls. But the premium feature that blocks spam callers from leaving a message is hit or miss. What’s even worse is when a known contact leaves a message, it can take hours to appear. I also have calls where the message isn’t available. I can see my cousin called and left a 90second message, but the message never plays nor will It transcribe. This wasn’t a one time issue. I finally deactivated the call screener, hoping that ATT spam blocking feature will work well enough. Otherwise I’ll try a different app.
  • Voicemail blocking is advertised but DOES NOT WORK for iPhone or Android

They conveniently advertise voicemail spam blocking but dont make it clear, unless you dive deep into the FAQs afterwards you are not protected from spammers leaving voicemail. They blame this on the phone manufacturers but if that were the case they’d be more honest about their v-mail blocking capabilities. The app itself is a bit clunky and features lack full and complete explanations. Even with all that it’s cut down on my spam calls from 5/day to 1/week or so.
  • Can’t even set this app up

Would LOVE to set up this app but you won’t let me move forward unless I allow my entire contact list. I have names and numbers of people just so I make sure to ignore their calls. They are not businesses. They are just people I either no longer do business with (personal cells) or just don’t care to hear from at the moment. I don’t want to delete them bc if I hate the app I have lost the number. What is the point of allowing us to select contacts“ if you won’t let me finish setting it up WITHOUT my ENTIRE contact list? I can’t even set it up. Guess I will just try a different app.
  • Doesn’t block spam

The app will send “potential spam” to voicemail; but it doesn’t fully block it. If it’s already identified as spam, then killing it (without bothering me) shouldn’t be asking too much.
