  • You thought this was JUST a to-do list? 😁

I spent about 25 hours scouring the internet so you don’t have to. As a life coach and entrepreneur running two businesses, I’m acutely aware of the challenges inherent to juggling multiple tasks and responsibilities. While not losing sight of what matters most. That uncanny valley between the grind and the dream is where most people live. And the demands of productivity are only increasing in the age of AI and automation. Our all-too-human brains need a central system, a hub, around which to organize. So began my search through Apple’s ecosystem for an app that could do it all. Because let’s face it. Of the scores (or more!) apps on your phone, how many do you actually use? It doesn’t matter how feature they were when you downloaded them. Once you get beyond the two or three that you use daily, the others fall by the wayside. The human brain can’t manage fourteen different systems for managing life. It’s not efficient. Or realistic. So this ONE APP for ORGANIZATION and TIME MANAGEMENT had a really high bar to clear. Most apps can do some of these things well but trust me - not all of them. Namely: 1. It needs to work on Mac, PC, iPhone, and Android. And work well. With minimal/no issues with data loss. Because what if you want to change machines? What if something crashes? Gotta be able to back up its data to a hard drive or external storage without being tied to some company’s proprietary system forever (Yep, Evernotes, I’m looking at you.) 2. Let’s face it. To-do lists without integration into your schedule just doesn’t work. Why? Because life happens. Things we don’t expect. Consequently, people end up with lists that are never completed but also unrealistic to finish in one day. Because you didn’t make them based on TIME you actually had available (i.e. on your calendar). You wrote them in an idealistic vacuum of raw need and caffeine. Sure, you get a few items knocked out. But over time, the check-lists balloon until they’re neglected. Fallen prey to a combo of distractions, tyranny of the urgent, unexpected interruptions, or just exhaustion. Don’t believe me? Okay, dig up some of yours. Find any items still uncompleted after nine months or more? :) 3. A schedule (calendar) without to-do list integration doesn’t work, either. Maybe you’re even using one that DOES at least make an attempt at this like BusyCal, Microsoft, or ToDoist. You’ve got your calendar ALONGSIDE you to-do list. That should fix it. Except for the same problem… Life still happens. Things that no matter how well you plan, you didn’t anticipate. Because, you couldn’t. So now, you’ve got priorities penciled in by your best intentions between appointments, meetings and other stuff on your calendar. Or alongside it. But today? Naw. That was so last week. This week, you’re drowning all over again in distractions or tyranny of the urgent. Let’s be honest. That’s where most of us live. Resolutions to invest in relationships and longterm goals - stuff that matters - get buried until the consequences of neglecting Quadrant 2 (Not Urgent - Important activities that are core to your values) come home to roost (you know, things like diabetes, or a wife/children who don’t want to talk). 4. An app isn’t going to change your life trajectory. But IF you have a plan, I can point out what works as a platform. Like a digital canvas. One that’s incredibly robust and granular when you need it, but as simple as you want it to be, where you could actually begin with some values, then build out habits alongside your appointments, and STILL track your progress from day-to-day in a single place in the face of interruptions. Not trying to be dramatic. Just being honest. That platform is TickTick. I hope this helps. ~ Miles from ChristianCoachOnline.com

If adding / checking off a task from the widget, the whole app should not open
  • Why can’t you just update automatically like a normal app?

If I give you permission to automatically update, it’s rude to force me to come into the App Store and do it myself. šŸ™„

It’s still the only app that keeps me organized the way my brain works. I am so grateful. Until I found TickTIck, I just could not function with any digital calendar. I tried to no avail. Google Calendar is the bane of my existence. TickTick was the best for me when it allowed integration of other calendar; then one day it removed my imported Google Calendars (which other people are good at using, calendar I needed to know the notes from), and I could no longer subscribe to external calendars. Fine, life moved on, I only used TickTick for my own organization after that. It has been that way for me since. The one thing I can’t stand is that I can view my tasks in daily/weekly/monthly formats on my phone, but not on the computer. It is this one problem that makes me never use it on my computer, which would be really nice to be able to update from both devices. The computer version doesn’t allow me to view my tasks in weekly or monthly format, which renders it useless to my visual oriented mind. I have only used TickTick on my phone because of this. I don’t have any personal reason to subscribe for the premium features, so I use it the way I am able to under the free version. I’m still very thankful.

I’ve used TikTik for several years after trying most of the other popular task management apps. TikTok works the best for me. I particularly like the option to have projects and lists as well as the flexibility to move tasks between different lists. Both the desktop and mobile interfaces are clear and easy to navigate. There’s little to no learning curve involved. Well worth the purchase.
  • Great for my ADHD Time Blindness

I’ve been using TickTick for several years now. Some months I use it more than others. It’s a very useful tool in my arsenal that I always come back to even if I forget about it for months at a time. My time blindness is extreme. There are a lot of great features in it that help me keep track of short time windows. I’m happy it exists. I pay for the premium features and I think it’s worth it. I use almost all the features the habit trackers, pomodoro timer, scheduling in lists and folders. The only thing I never used is the Eisenhower matrix. I still keep a physical planner which helps me plan my long term goals a bit better. I think TickTick has always been best for the hourly organization of my day. But that’s just me.

I have known about this product from a long time, however, I was hesitant to install it because I was using a long-time preinstalled application that I thought it satisfies my needs. But to find all the options in one App changed my mind. Lets see what it’ll bring in the future.

Feels effortless to use, superior to apple Reminders and compared to Todoist, it is less clunky, more simple/organized, and has a great notification/alert-based system so it actually reminds you of stuff on time. Integrates w/ Siri.
