I’ve long given up complaining about WeChat’s long-standing issues like chat history storage and device login restrictions. But turning the Mac version from a mostly native app that followed macOS design guidelines into a Qt-based one is simply unacceptable.
This change makes an already clunky UI even less consistent with macOS, and the app’s size has become even more bloated. The “cross-platform” excuse doesn’t hold up — Tencent is a tech giant with more than enough resources to build proper native apps for each platform. Many other messaging services with massive user bases continue to do so.
As a product that holds a ‘near-monopoly’ status in messaging ecosystem, WeChat has a social responsibility to deliver a high-quality native experience.
The message delay is extremely large; the mobile version has received it for 1 minute, but the Mac version still hasn't appeared. In addition, since the messages are not in order, the display is disordered, which is very creepy if operated on both ends.
It's hard to imagine a instant messaging software could be done like this; I really admire it.
