  • PAYWALLED APP

You cannot use this app without paying an annual subscription ($25 final offer). Oh, but they grab your data before they tell you there’s a paywall. Didn’t end up using this app based on principle and hidden pay walls just to access the app.

Seemed like a great idea, downloaded it right away after seeing an ad. Requires you pay a subscription to use any features. Why waste my time and claim to be free if it’s $50 a year
  • No Free Option

There is no portion of this app that is free to try. While I could see the reason behind not having ads, this does limit their user base.

  • Dark, Manipulative, and Not Worth It - USER BEWARE

I was targeted by an Instagram ad and got intrigued by the idea of reducing screen time, so I decided to download this app. It starts by taking you through multiple rounds of “get to know you” questions. Then it tells you how many years of your life you’ve supposedly lost (or have left) because of your phone use — which already felt a little manipulative. After that, it asks for access to your Screen Time data, which I gave. Then it asked me to leave a review (a bit premature). Immediately after? A $50/year paywall. No trial. No meaningful preview of features or what to expect. Just pay up. When I (obviously) declined, I started getting spammy discount offers like “$20 a year!” that felt desperate and off-putting. The whole experience felt dark, bizarre, and oddly exploitative (like something out of Black Mirror) — especially for an app that claims to be doing something “good” for your mental health. Out of curiosity, I checked the reviews and saw tons of people complaining about bugs and poor value. Glad I dodged a bullet. If you’re genuinely trying to improve your screen habits, there are far better, more transparent options out there. Good luck folks - and to the app developer, do better.

Don’t buy. The concept of this app is amazing but it’s not ready for use. Too many glitches it barely works and was a huge waste of money

I know it’s still new, however there are some bugs when it comes down to the blocking feature of apps, sometimes you can go into the brain rot app while in detox mode and simply refresh it and then the previously blocked apps are no longer blocked. This app has a great future!
  • They expect you to pay immediately

I love the idea of this app. I really love the design, the concept, i loved the sensory feeling of the buzzing when the brain would “talk” this app is amazing in theory, would be my opinion just without the fact it Forces you to pay. You CANNOT use the app without paying. They might as well have made it a one time purchase and i probably would’ve felt more inclined to do that but of course then they wouldn’t be getting money from people who forgot about it. It is just sleazy. a free version doesn’t have to have all the bells and whistles but even just “2 dollars a month 80% off” is just so scammy. putting the price down three times just to get someone to pay, and the worst part is there probably is someone spending 49$ a year or whatever. I’m just disappointed.

I have Opal and idk if I’m using it wrong but it doesn’t do anything but give my brain score and I paid almost 30$. Opal actually blocks and is free… I’d like my money back
