  • Requires additional add-on to already premium subscription

Crunchyroll has been advertising the manga app as new thing. The only thing new about it is that they are now requiring people who already have a premium subscription to get an add-on to read the manga.

Most of the mangas end where the anime left off. Like what was the point and some end before the anime left off. how is it, that the anime is on season two and the manga is cliffhanging the first season?! I paid the year in advance…
  • Sloppy, force fed certain content, terrible dubbing, unfriendly.

For one comments were removed and were a beloved aspect of Crunchyroll. They did this because of on incident where comments were unpleasant. Next up is the force fed content. To find old content you must search. Only new content is forced into the front page. Crunchyroll not only sidelines older content but they straight up did not honor funimation digital ownership that came with buying movies and series from them. The more this big company gobbles up the worse it gets. Next up was right stuf which now Crunchyroll just had mid sales and they do not stack with your ultimate or mega fan membership. Who’s even buying stuff when it isn’t on sale? What’s the point if the discounts don’t stack. On top of all of this the voice acting Crunchyroll does for American audiences is terrible, especially for the male actors. Fire these people and get some actual va’s with talent and diverse voices.
  • Unclear pricing before you download

I was prompted to download this app when I bought a Crunchyroll subscription, but then I couldn’t actually read anything under whatever subscription plan I was at. I went back to my Crunchyroll account to see what level I was at and how much it would cost to upgrade it, but couldn’t figure it out and lost interest and deleted it. But the app itself looks nice and all, and seems to have a solid selection.
  • Unable to access

I have been subscribed to Crunchyroll for 10+ years and was really looking forward to the manga site. However, none of the subscription info for CR manga is accessible thru either app despite the help page purposely sending you to the original app to upgrade your acct. you also can’t make changes to your acct thru the website which is even more annoying. Don’t advertise something and then send us around in circles.
  • Currently Not Worth It

So I’ve been a CR subscriber since 2014, and had my account since 2013. I’ve seen the original manga app offered at no additional charge to subscriber accounts in the past. Why are the yearly pricing tiers for the current CR yearly subscriptions not balanced? Annual Mega Fan + Manga $154.99 Annual Ultimate Fan $149.99 (includes manga) You get more for less on the Ultimate Fan subscription? Why is the manga add on for Mega Fans more expensive than upgrading to Ultimate when Ultimate includes manga access? This pricing makes NO sense, even if it’s only a $5 difference. Also, I have concerns that the new app shares the same problems the old app had: a severely limited library with many titles not up-to-date. I can already see that the library is almost as limited as its predecessor, and the few big titles it does have are NOT up-to-date. As is, I believe the current subscription price is not worth what you get. I will be using another service.

I already have Crunchyroll and also read manga, I was using the viz app, which is good I guess there just isn’t a ton of manga in it. So I decided to combine my anime and manga into one thing. Ok so the app works well, there’s some loading issues, but that could be my old phone. And there isn’t a ton of manga…. But it’s also super new and they have to take the time losing everything in. If they even have half the manga here compared to the amount of anime they have I’d consider that a big win. I like it and I hope they keep adding stuff. I may come back in a while To change my review depending on what happens. But I have high hopes for this app.
