  • Their new VIP subscriptions are trash

    I’ve been a loyal subscriber to Lezhin for 3-4 years. Ive had multiple VIP subscriptions stacked ranging from $15-25. How they are treating their loyal customers is atrocious. Because of an issue with their payment system, they cancelled our memberships and provided a “new vip” Package that isn’t as good as the ones we had. We are paying more money for less coins per month. On top of that they are only giving us 30 days to use them or lose them. Imagine paying $40 for coins that will expire in only 30 days? At least offer a vip package with some permanent coins?? They are constantly making translation errors too. So what are we paying for?? I am very disappointed in lezhin. Ive been supporting the platform for years, and its honestly sad to see them not care about retaining their core supporters. Hope they change their ways soon because I can no longer afford their platform

    While I’ve had a few issues here and there with Lezhin Comics, the one thing I truthfully haven’t been able to enjoy and strongly disagree with is the comment section. While authors are the ones who choose to open their comments, it’s incredibly disappointing to see so much negative commentary on certain comics - especially since Lezhin offers a wide variety of genres, with 19+ works being the most popular. I wish there was option to have them completely off. It’s honestly distracting and annoying, and makes the experience distasteful.

    The pricing of the chapters of stories can be incredibly greedy. I have an issue with the payment system and the amount of coins needed for just a single chapter already, but I could ignore that if the translation qualities for the stories were good. However, for a long time, I feel a lot of stories have not been translated in a sense that can hold true to the original writing and language. Obviously, when translating stories, some things are easy to figure out and some things are lost in translation, unfortunately, but the way some stories are translated makes no sense to me. Another reviewer on here, as well as a lot of Korean speakers, have pointed out that some translations (especially to English) do not make sense at all, and are missing context, the connotation, and a lot of the choices of words in English localizations often change the vibe and feeling of the scene and/or dialogue, monologue, etc. I would be willing to pay more if the translation of the stories were well done, but I feel it lacks a lot in terms of translating properly, then makes the chapters cost more.

    Comics, manhwas, and manhuas are good. Unfortunately this app is expensive. I only use it to read one title now. Every chapter is 30 coins, $5.99 gets you 240 coins. That gets you 8 chapters. In retrospect some might say it’s a good amount of chapters.. but for six dollars I expect a little more. And for some reason the app hasn’t been updating some titles on their update day. I hope it gets fixed soon.

  • Bad Translations for a Bad Price

    I basically agree with literally everything else everyone else has said. The comics are so expensive and there’s been instances where I’ve done tasks and gotten 0 coins back. I could excuse all of this, however, (because i’m a pretty lenient person) if we were actually getting good quality panels—but we’re not. There’s so many statements online of Korean speaking people, saying how there are many mistranslations (especially in the case of jinx) that are so mistranslated that they change the entire connotation of the story. It’s actually baffling how much you have you pay for stories, or if your not paying, spending hours of your day doing sketchy missions for coins, just to get a comic that hasn’t been translated properly. What on earth are you doing with all that money? Can’t you afford better translators? I’ve read the exactly same scenes in Spanish, and the translation is an entirely different meaning or context that it makes it feel as if you’re reading an entirely different story. Korean speakers say the exact same things as well (as mentioned before, the most notable difference being Jinx). The fact that we have to pay so much for bad quality stories is the exact reason why people pirate these stories unfortunately—making it so that the company nor the authors make any money. It’ll benefit literally anyone if coins were cheaper, or at least easier to obtain through tasks, and good quality translations were being produced.

    No manwha is worth this deeply unethical excuse for a webcomic distributor. In order to access more than a single chapter of most comics, you must redeem “coins” which are most readily obtained by paying for them. They dress this pricing model up as a way of “gamifying” your manga experience, but the truth of the matter is this: To readily access their content, Lezhin makes you pay REAL money in exchange for FAKE money so they can legally put an expiration date on your legal tender. That’s right. The coins you buy can and will expire. To make matters worse, these “coin bundles” barely get you any bang for your buck and are deliberately misleading. The coin packs available to you with your first and second purchases come with “points” in addition to your coins - points that you can redeem for more coins. But here’s the catch - you have to spend more money to redeem the points you earned by spending money in the first place. There is no deal here either - let’s say you bought a $10.99 pack which comes with 2000 points and 658 coins. To redeem those 2000 points, you’d have to spend $9.99 and will only receive 470 coins in return. But surely that’s enough to get you a decent level of access of the content, right? Wrong. Calling the prices ridiculous would be a gross understatement. To purchase an entire 100 chapter manwha, I would have to spend a minimum of $45 USD. That is more expensive than most hard cover books that you can physically own; books you won’t have to worry about one day losing access to if the platform they are hosted on goes under or if the author decides to pull their work from said platform. To add insult to injury, the user interface abhorrent. The app is difficult to navigate and you are consistently bombarded with intrusive pop ups. In all, Lezhin is a deeply predatory platform that forces paying customers to shell out exorbitant amounts of money for a single comic. And it doesn’t even function all that great. Makes you wonder where they money is even going.

    I give this a one star because what do you mean I gotta pay SO MUCH for one story??? Barely webtoon even has this problem and this app is money HUNGRY for ANYTHING 😭, the authors are great but srs id rather stick to the websites.....

    I love the comic I’ve been reading! I’m honestly hooked. But the coins? It’s honestly annoying to go back and forth from reading something you’re interested in and then not having enough coins to continue reading so you have to go complete random quests. I’d rather watch ads at this point.
