Description

Lines is an effect plugin that crosses borders: it can be used as a creative mangler of all kinds of signals, ranging from lo-fi telephone sounds, lush phasing, warm distortions, crushing feedback, ring modulation and unique frequency shifting. But even without any input, it can be an experimental synthesizer based on feedback, allowing for a wide range of inspiring rhythms, pulses, and organic soundscapes. If you combine input and internal engines an unheard spectrum of sounds appears.

  • Just very clever, and customer service is just very real

I love this thing, it’s super versatile with a huge range from subtle to tacky. I find it necessary to point out that AD provides real customer service and the address things like real people. If you give them genuine issues they give you genuine service. If you antagonize them they don’t use polite ai or canned responses. If anyone has trouble with not getting what they want when harassing them, I imagine it’s someone who wouldn’t respond well to be on the receiving end of the same energy they are putting out either. I’ve never had a single problem any time I’ve reached out for anything. I’ve been a customer since i won a copy of valve filter VF-1 on BPB in 2015 when it was released on desktop (now evolved into valves plugin). Nothing but A+ service and thoughtful discounts and deals for loyalty. I now own most of their releases, and on the rare occasion I’ve reached out for something they are always helpful. They’ve answered even dumb questions I’ve had and have always responded with grace and measure.

Lines marries the creative, musical misuse of old signal-processing hardware to open-minded expertise at modeling, expanding, and realizing in software form that adventure in hardware. For people willing to engage in musical experimentation, this app offers a surprisingly wide range of possible results from a seemingly minimal, limited set of tools. Clever, sometimes beautiful, sometimes fearsome, presets (often, oddly, set by default to require the user to switch on particular components to get the resulting sounds of the preset) point users to possibilities. The fun really begins, however, when we take those presets in our own directions. Thanks again to AudioThing and Hainbach for another distinctive and useful piece of software - and for bringing it to mobile devices, where the magic can be had in parks, on buses, or even, in my case, in a sick person's bed.
