  • Being forced to use Ai feels so bad

First time I felt compelled to write a review. The older version of this app were much better. Will look elsewhere to practice languages. I’m tired of AI being used in everything.
  • Used to be great

I bought the lifetime membership and I definitely wasted my money. The app is nothing like it used to be. It used to have a clear path for the language that you were learning. There would be chapters that had lessons that were complimentary to each other. It was easy to review back then because you could go to the chapter and just review those words and phrases. Now if you want to review, everything you’ve ever learned is all jumbled together. I also miss the little spaceship that was lifting off as I learned, it felt like I was accomplishing something trying to get it to the top. I wish I could revert to an old version of the app. Don’t waste money on this app, I don’t think it’s worth it.
  • ¿Novedades?

¿Qué sucede con sus “novedades”? al leerlas no me da la sensación de que sean muy serios. Quería adquirir el plan “lifetime” pero al leer sus novedades mejor desistí.

I originally gave this program that I’ve been subscribing to since 2020 a pretty lower review. The good people at Memrise have greatly improved the program functionality and content. Language choices have expanded, and for die hard language learners this is going to be an indispensable tool. If Development trajectory continues in this vein, they will soon be getting five star reviews from me. Try the free program and don’t let the pricing scare you. They have a Helpdesk and kind direct you to one of their languages that is working well and from there you can make an informed decision. Check out the one year subscription option, which is the same price as two months, more or less. I am no longer switching to Duolingo, but I use their free version for some languages.

I was so happy to come across this app. I have tried other apps and didn’t find them as helpful. This meets my learning style, and I like the multiple ways they present the language. I actually enjoy using this app.

When they changed the app this summer, they took away everything that made this app fun. One used to hear native speakers introducing the vocabulary- now it's obviously AI, and I'm pretty sure it mispronounced one of the words. Previously, users could easily toggle between different types of learning (like videos of native speakers acting in skits, rapid quizzes, vocab pronunciation) and as far as I can tell, that's gone, too. And! You can't go back to earlier levels to review lessons, so if you go on a vacation and come back to your schedule, you have no way of reviewing your last lessons. The app says "we're aware this is an important feature and we're working on it"--- I really don't think they are. This app is basically a vocab sheet with AI chat bots, but you can use an AI chat bot for free online and change its language to have the same effect. You don't need this app, no one does, keep looking.
  • Loved it before the update

I love this app, but since the latest update, the app is showing me the romanization of the language (Greek), which I do not want to see. It’s not giving an option to change this, and it’s showing this distracting line instead of showing me the Greek characters or the translation. It’s also saying I’ve added zero words to my total learned and started learning at the end of each lesson even though the numbers are going up, which is a little disheartening. I hope it gets fixed in a subsequent update.

This app is really good I enjoy it a lot however in the Korean version it’s telling me I’m getting an answer wrong even tho my answer and the “right answer looks identical, it’s really frustrating. Please fix this.

I really loved Memrise, best language app I’ve used, and I’ve been using it for two years. I’d been away for a couple months (life), then it was time to renew. I noticed a special deal so I bought the lifetime membership. Opened the app, and everything has changed, as others have talked about. And I can’t watch any videos. If I click on the Videos menu, the app crashes. Uninstalled, rebooted my phone, reinstalled, same problem. I contacted Support with details, and they wrote back asking for the same details I provided them. I replied. They wrote back asking if there was anything else they could do for me? (Huh?) I replied with the same information about the same problem. Since then it’s been crickets, even though I wrote them AGAIN, asking if they were going to help me. I guess not. I’ve now requested a refund, I hope I get it.
  • I miss older versions !

I think many people have chosen memrise because of community lessons and new versions don’t support that!
