  • Too Liberal and not enough local investigative journalism

The RTD since it was sold years ago by the Bryan Family has become more liberal. Paul Michael Williams is the most liberal biased journalist with no counter balance on staff. The same for Jeff Shapiro who leans solidly Left a majority of the time. There needs to be more balance on the OP/ED Page. Also there is not enough true investigative journalism locally in the City and surrounding Governments. There is a lot of corruption in regards to spending, incompetence, and oversight at City Hall especially. Ex Mayor Stoney has gotten a pass in regards to his failures and is running a ghost campaign for LT Governor and nobody is asking him any questions. The Water Plant fiasco is one example of his malfeasance.

I do enjoy reading the Times Dispatch. It has a good mix of local and global to start my day well informed. Please keep up the great work. I do miss holding a physical paper but with our travel schedule, the electronic version has become very effective. Took a little getting used to…but not much. ENJOY!!!
  • Embarrassingly amature

I’ve been a news subscriber to the RTD for more than 30 years, and reluctantly migrated to the digital version. To my surprise, I’ve come to love reading the paper on my iPad. But I find the app clunky and the digital version comes across as an after thought. -Typically the articles are riddled with typos, misplaced hyphens, and out of place content. I’ve written the editor, who essentially replied, “oh well.” They are desperately in need of a proofreader. -Every night it ask me to subscribe to the news plus version three times before it will let me read the paper. - Content is not formatted for digital viewing. For example, If it appears black and white in the paper, it will be black and white in the digital version too. If it appears on a two page spread in the paper, it will show up on two different pages in the app, no ability to view and scroll. -It lacks any ability to read or share comments. I also subscribe to the NYT online, and that’s my favorite feature. In short, this app is better than nothing. But there’s lots of room for improvement. Digital is the future. It’s time Lee invests in this app.
  • Review of RTD

I enjoy reading the local and State news provided in RTD. It is good to hear about what is going on in your community. RTD also provides good coverage of the General Assembly and governor. The news is more positive and more accurate than what you may get on social media!
  • Multiple login attempts

I receive emails with the RDT articles, yet when I click on them, I cannot open them and it takes me back-and-forth to login over and over again. This is very frustrating and has been going on for a couple of years. I called that newspaper to complain about it, and nothing has changed. This is not from the app, but it’s from the emails.
  • Local news

I find it so important to be aware of local news and at present that means subscribing to the Richmond Times. Rates for seniors are quite affordable. Such info is nit available elsewhere including Local TV News which is so superficial. They provide national, local (news and sports) and importantly opinions (which keeps politicians in their toes). It is such a great wait to start one’s day. Thomas Dayspring in Glen Allen
  • App is OK but…

…you can’t read comments. If you go to a browser to read comments, pages constantly crash and give up, with error messages. Why does reading the RT-D have to be an aggravating experience? (And why doesn’t the Richmond Times-Dispatch spell its name correctly on its own Apple app page, above? There’s a hyphen, right? That seems like a bad look for a newspaper.)
  • Daily Login Issues

I’m a digital subscriber and the overall app is fine for reading the news. However, I am prompted almost daily to re-login to my account before I am able to read things. When I press restore purchase, I often have to restart the app before it begins to allow me to read.
  • The worst app ever

Don’t bother with this. Access your subscription through a search engine.
  • Poorly designed

I am constantly having to delete and reinstall app because it doesn't recognize my login. Or it limits the amount of pages I can read while I'm logged in. Or page says please login, and when I click on my profile page, it clearly shows am logged in but will not allow me to log out. So glitchy. Not so WP or WSJ apps. I would give it half star if ratings went that low. Please fix this app.
