  • Best app ever - seriously incredible

This is my first review for anything, I've never been motivated to write a review before. But this app is just amazing... It syncs to multiple devices, you can email everything, the grocery list and recipe/meal planning integration works perfectly, and even if you need a recipe not on the enormous list of sites it imports from, it has an amazing interface from the website that translates recipes perfectly in seconds. The programmer for this app is a genius. AND I don't find it cluttered at all, I like the photos for quick visual scans and you can customize your color scheme. This is my favorite app in the world, kudos mealboard! Most importantly it simplifies my life and (after a bit of set-up mainly importing recipes, which any good app requires) saves a ton of time! I love it!
  • So far so good

I just got the app and so far I’m loving it. It’s nice having my meals I’ve planned for the week at my finger tips along with what I have in the pantry. Still need to get the hang of making sure i update that as I cook meals but still a great feature. One thing I wish the app had was the option to manually add custom things that don’t necessarily require a recipe. Ex) if I want to eat out I don’t want to add a recipe for that. Or if I’m making something super simple like sloppy joes with broccoli but the next time I want to make it with fries I don’t want to have to add several recipes for sloppy Joes. It would be nice to just be able to be able to type in anything without it being listed as a recipe or pantry item. Also if the calendar Had the option for continuous scroll. If my recipes don’t call for anything that will go bad quickly I like to shop for as many meals as I can. so it would be nice to be able to scroll through the weeks instead of only seeing 1 month at a time. Especially when it gets towards the end of the month. I want to be able to see last week or 2 of one month along with first week or 2 of the following month.

This app has everything I need and more! More features than I ever thought would be helpful such as being able to cross off directions in a recipe as you go, marking a meal as leftovers, creating a meal plan template so you don’t have to think of new things every week or every month, easily importing recipes with a URL link, importing ingredients into your shopping cart from the recipes you’ve chosen, the list goes on! Very well done!

I have used this app for several years and it's helped me organize my recipes, gather ingredients and plan meals. Easy to import recipes from other websites.
  • Good in theory

I can’t share it with my husband so it’s not what I’m looking for. I bought the upgraded version before I found out.

Update: This app just keeps getting better and better over the 10 years we have been using it!! With the exception of adding purple to the app colour choices I couldn’t think of any possible improvements. With the latest updates the developer has done it again. The look is beautiful, easy to read, adjust and make notes on recipes. I would definitely recommend paying for the Premium version straight away. Completely worth it. We started saving meal plans for special weeks or holiday weeks as templates a few years ago. Last year we started saving 4 week meal plans. This year we load up the appropriate template, make adjustments for days of the week, switch out a recipe or two to new recipes we have saved, synch the meals to a shopping list, synch to the cloud, and viola the menu is done. After using different apps for meal planning we found MealBoard 10 years ago. So easy to use! Importing recipes or entering my own recipes is super easy and quick. Now I can even scan in a recipe that my cousin has emailed to me because she persists in sending me recipes that she has hand typed from a website, instead of just sending me the link. There’s only two of us and scaling recipes to avoid leftovers is great, albeit occasionally getting crazy fractions which mess with hubby trying to figure out 11/16 of a Tbs, haha! He has the app on his phone too and logs in to our account so he can work on something at the same time. We plan meals out for a month at a time but buy for 10 days at a time. The shopping list generates what is needed and I quickly check off what I know we have already. We even plan camping meals with MealBoard. On a canoe camping trip with us, my cousin took photos of me cooking meals with my trusty phone sitting on a rock with my MealBoard recipes on it. I also use it to combine recipes to make what I want, when I can’t find a recipe for what I envisioned. Especially for a 3 quart instant pot. If I get stuck or need to ask a question or find a weird bug, the app developer, Ray Bernardo is SUPER responsive. One of these days I may even convince him to add purple in as one of the colour choices. (Please Ray Please)😀
  • why does the cal keep opening to Oct. it’s not Oct

Love the app but why is it every time I open the app it goes to oct and not to the day in nov. it shouldn’t be set default to Oct cause it’s not oct. there is nowhere in setting to make it stop opening to oct. Also can you add notifications to notify us in the morning for breakfast, lunch and dinner that day so everyone can know instead of having to remember to go into the app and look. I know other apps have the notifications for the day in the morning to remind you, but I don’t like their layout. Notifications help when you’re super busy and forget what to have prepared for dinner.
  • Very User Friendly

Love the way it's organized, and the importing feature is very good, especially considering so many recipe web pages look like a dumpster fire. I'd love it if I were able to link certain recipes within others. Like for a salad that lists a certain dressing among the ingredients. You'd be able to select that dressing and it would take you to another recipe. Other than that, I can't think of a single thing I'd improve on.

I have been using MealBoard for years and I sing its praises to everyone I meet. I have tried multiple recipe storing apps and Mealboard is, hands down, my favorite. Importing recipes is a breeze, I can add my own, plus it allows me to sort recipes into categories, when many other apps don't. My only complaint is that I cannot share recipes with friends, family, or even other MealBoard users. I am currently having to subscribe to Umami as well as MealBoard just so I have a place to put recipes I want to share. I don't like Umami nearly as much, but for now, it offers one important feature for me that is missing from MealBoard.
