  • Lasso tool please

I know it’s in the roadmap, but a lasso tool would really help. Missing so many basic canvas features.

I love the original procreate. However I think dreams needed to be worked on longer before its release. Without the lasso tool and the fact brushes loses resolution when I zoom out makes it very annoying for me to work with. I understand an update is coming out to fix these issues but I think they should’ve came with the release of the app.
  • Disappointed.

I’ve been using this app for a good few months now and, while there are some good features, it simply isn’t a very good animation app. The interface is very simplified, almost too much so. There is no lasso tool, and when selecting whole drawings you cannot even rotate them. When I realize I made one frame too short, instead of just lengthening it, I have to tediously move each individual frame after that a step or two farther along in order to. Not to mention it’s been glitchy for me. Only a two minute animation, not anywhere near completion, and it’s glitching all over the place. Even crashed a few times. I had high hopes for this app and while there is some merit to it, it’s such a hassle to work with and not really worth the frustration. Thank you for your time, -Griffin Edit Number 3: A small but by far the most annoying bug is that EVERY TIME I ADD AUDIO, for a second near the beginning there’s a glitch. It’ll skip a second in the audio. The rest will sound fine except for that one part that glitches, always near the beginning. Why is this?

This was a gift for myself, saw bad reviews and hoped for the best because a few people said once you learn it would be better than flip a clip. THE LEARNING CURVE WAS EXTREMELY STEEP… and that comes from someone who learns things extremely quick. But what was a bit of a break for me was I still don’t know how to put audio… looked at the website and all. As an animator who makes animations with lip syncing this is a big deal breaker for me… unfortunately I will stay with my old reliable flip a clip…
  • Great video editor, abysmal animation program

the lack of a lasso tool and the fact that lineart forever looks pixelated if you zoom out when you draw it means that it’s a bad idea to use this for any art past the sketching phase. however it’s also a great app for compiling animations you’ve made in other programs. nowadays i almost exclusively use it for jotting down super loose animatics, or for putting things together whenever i’m too lazy to pull out davinci resolve on my laptop. very mixed feelings on this app. i’d say it needs more time in the oven, but in the past year it hasn’t really improved as an art tool. spend your money elsewhere for now.
  • Please update the app!

This app is great, just needs a bunch of updates. Some updates that I wish it had are the lasso tool, ability to make lines locked straight or into a polygon (like procreate), and overall the same stuff procreate does. Procreate is amazing, but procreate dreams is only a fraction of that. It has a lot of potential, very exited to see where it goes, but please update the app!
  • Went to try it again, still awful

I wanted to try Procreate Dreams again to see if it’s better than the last time I used it and I was horribly wrong. It is the exact same, it’s still hard to use, there is no lasso tool, just everything is harder in general. This app is a terrible excuse for an “animation” app. I know there is a road map for upcoming things but it still isn’t good. At this point I might want a refund, but I will keep the app to see if it gets at least the smallest tiny bit better in the future.
  • Unusable

Easily the most unintuitive apple creative app I have ever used. It relies almost entirely on gestures. No undo button. Trust me, there was plenty of space for one. I have spent a few hours trying to get the hang of the app only to end up wildly frustrated and quitting again. I have not made a single actual animation on this app since buying it.

I have been using procreate for a good long time and have found it incredible. Thus when I heard of dreams I was MORE than excited but after purchase felt ripped off. The app is finicky, slow, and lacking critical features after almost a YEAR of release. Lasso tool? Gone. Quickshape? Gone. You want to edit your brushes or add your own? TOO DANG BAD!! If this software could implement a few simple tools it would be my favorite by a landslide. But in its current state it’s practically unusable, and for $20 it’s a total ripoff. Don’t waste your money until it’s fixed. It’s not worth it as it is now I want the same features as base procreate has or I want my money back.

When I started off on procreate I never used its animation assist guide, I tried it recently and thought it was pretty much just as annoying as this app, just easier. This app barely has anything that the animator themselves can control, not only that but when it’s handled by procreate I’m sure we were all expecting the same tools that the app procreate had. Such as holding down your lines and creating straight lines, or shapes, and that just isn’t in this. Which is in a lot of other animation productions just as a pen itself that could be extremely useful for rooms or stripes, or go big whatever your creativity comes up with to animate. It also doesn’t have the pen import, you have to import them directly from your procreate app, which is quite annoying if one doesn’t have the app or even just yk… never finds that out. There’s also issues with the layers, you can’t alpha lock, invert, that cool jazz we know you know isn’t in the app for layers. you can’t change your background color based off of hex code, you have to chose from specific colors for onion skin, there’s no reference box or drawing guide/perspective lines, if you draw on the wrong track you CANT MERGE DRAWING TRACKS OH MY GODDDDD I SPENT THREE DAYS TRACING MY TRACK BECAUSE I DREW ON THE WRONG ONE!!! Not specifically the layer, THE TRACK. You cant add multiple different text boxes to the same text box track but you can accidentally add a drawing track to the text box track? Okay. Anyway… there’s a lot of work for this app, it could be because I only have a generation 6 iPad but whenever I draw/animate specifically with this app it glitches, the pen backtracks with my finger/pen the screen will freeze, it simply won’t even draw what I drew for like a good minute while I’m sitting there dragging my finger on the screen, it needs some help. Please fix these things! Please update the app with better quality content and things people can use, I quite literally feel like I’m playing a parkour platforming game on the switch while being fed peas with a tiny fork at the same time while using this app. I’m not going to stop using it, I am using it for my animation class, but it’s SOOOO hard to use. Please make things easier for your users, begging. Omg edit while using, out of all things IT DOESNT HAVE THE SELECT TOOLS!! I literally want to grab an arm on the same layer and just move it since I put it in the wrong place while drawing BUT I CANT there’s no freehand select/lasso tools!
