    Used to love this app been with them for years had a monthly subscription. But this whole gem thing is crazy why am I going to pay a monthly subscription and still have to pay for “gems” I’m unsubscribing and not coming back. Can’t believe it. WEBTOON is better at least they make episodes free after a period of time and don’t have to pay for every chapter

    I use to use this app like crazy with a subscription, until a few months ago when basically all of their newer stories are gem access only. I pay monthly to ready stories, and there is plenty of stories that come on the subscription, but almost ALL of the new releases are gem access only (you have to buy gems on top of the subscription). I don’t think that’s fair.

    I wouldn’t get this app, if you already have we are all in mourning, we pay for the subscription and read the comic but now ALL of their new comics you have to pay with gems, more in app currency, even though we ALREADY pay for a subscription, webtoons would never, I’d give it about 2 months before they loose half their consumer base, I’m honestly so disappointed

    What is the point of having a subscription if not all of the comics are available? Why should I pay for a subscription when most of the comics require you to pay for gems? This is why WEBTOON and Tapas are better. I don’t have to pay fees on top of fees to read their comics. And they have a comment section. Hence, why I am canceling subscription and deleting the app. What a waste of money.

    Used to love manta, but now on top of paying a monthly subscription, I also have to pay for gems to buy chapters on almost EVERY story I click on. It’s just become a huge money grab and I’m extremely disappointed in it. I’m probably going to have to unsubscribe soon because nearly all the stories I was reading became stories that need gems to complete. I’m not going to pay a month subscription on top of needing to buy gems to read. Not having to pay for each and every chapter I wanted to read was a big reason to why I initially subscribed to manta.

    I don’t usually write reviews unless it’s something really good or really bad. I have loved Manta for a long time that’s why it is 3 stars even though this won’t be a good review. As others have said being able to pay monthly to read unlimited content was awesome. I have read some of my favorite webcomics on Manta. However every new comic that pops up in the app now requires gems along with the subscription. This makes the app feel so greedy. I’m not going to pay monthly AND buy gems that will cost me so much more in the long run. Especially when the comics that require gems purchases are the ones that I really want to read. I’m afraid I’ll have to say goodbye to manta as even some of the comics I’ve been reading recently aren’t keeping my interest.

    I subscribed to this when it was unlimited reads and it was great, when I went through a reading lull I unsubscribed now that I’m back I’m just irritated by how I pay a subscription and 90% of the comics cost extra and there’s no way to even search unlimited read comics only. Im sorry no, I’m not paying for a subscription so I have access to pay more money to read anything. You destroyed what was superior about Manta.

    There was a lot of upset around the new gems system but this platform cares for their subscribers and is very transparent. Highly recommend! Great choice of free comics!

  • Monthly subscription and buy gems to read

    I used to love this app because i would much rather pay a monthly subscription to read whats available on the app, unlimited… but now on top of a monthly subscription you have to buy gems to unlock chapters? So whats the point of a monthly subscription? Terribly greedy.. go back to the monthly subscription and get rid of the gems feature!

    I used to love this app. But paying for a subscription and paying for gems is too much. If it were for a few exclusive mangas that would be taken off after a certain amount of time sure. But mostly all new Mangas have to be purchased with gems. At this rate the subscription won’t matter because everything new will be gem based. So what will the subscription be for. This new model doesn’t work for me. Will be unsubscribing.
