    This app used to be really good but recently between having to pay for comics on top of a subscription is just a money grab especially the amount you have to pay for 1 chapter on some! Why should I pay $50 to get half a series? But my biggest complaint is all preview vs full version stuff! I am not going to your website every time I want to find a story that you only have a preview of on the app what is the point of the app then??? At least put it back the where you had to type in the title to get the full version or make people put in year they were born or something when they want to read a full version!! So many new stories are all like this I’m sick of it!! And all you ever say on any of these reviews is to go to the website but again what the point of the app then!!!

    Unsubscribing after years of being an avid reader. Manta’s new “gem” system on top of a subscription is too much of an obvious greedy money grab. It’s not fun to read manhwa on here anymore. Not to mention all the censorship. Maybe I’ll come back if things go back to how they used to be.

    I’ve had this app for years and it was amazing at the start. A few bucks a month for as much as you could read. Now, you still pay the monthly fee but for most comics on the app, you also have to pay with “gems” per episode. Gems cost dollars. You can still find some legacy series that don’t require gems, but if you’ve read through all those and want a new story, good luck. All the interesting stuff requires you to shell out cash per episode.

    I think the monthly membership is great. I want to buy some of the ones with coins but the math is just so far off on some of them for not having a physical owned copy of it with purchase. I just can’t justify a $50 spend on a single series I won’t own…. Sad really…

  • Greed Ruins A Good Thing

    This app was really great with the monthly subscription until they introduced the gems feature. I got it because unlike other apps it didn’t try to scam a bunch of money out of me by making me buy gems or credits or whatever. But then they introduced the gem feature too. You pay so much for gems only to be able to buy one episode for 5 gems. How quickly will the gems run out for a manga with 100 episodes. The very reason I preferred this app over others is the reason I’m no longer paying for a subscription. I don’t buy the excuse that it’s just access to series that wouldn’t be available otherwise. How do you make sense of that? I’m sure if you could get the series based on the gem feature, you can negotiate paying a higher upfront cost, without squeezing your customers for every last dollar. No thank you.

    I’ve been a paid member for a few years. $4 really wasn’t all that much and it was worth it… but not there’s an additional money grab for some series where it wants you to pay PER episode and lots of the comics are locked. I dont understand what’s the use of a membership if it’s not good for anything….

    I love the app, it is one of my best apps to read. The only negative part that I don’t like that has made me not read much anymore is the membership 😔 this has been blocking all the comics I would read but I still very much enjoy the app and still recommend to download it ☺️you’ll just have to get the membership in order to read further more into the comics now.
