    I used to love this app. But paying for a subscription and paying for gems is too much. If it were for a few exclusive mangas that would be taken off after a certain amount of time sure. But mostly all new Mangas have to be purchased with gems. At this rate the subscription won’t matter because everything new will be gem based. So what will the subscription be for. This new model doesn’t work for me. Will be unsubscribing.

  • Wish there were less gem only stories

    I have had manta for 5 years now and when they started the coin/gem only stories it feels like they care less about their readers and more about money. I’m not upset with having gem only stories but when 90% of them are gem only i feel like they are money hungry. I miss being able to read a lot of stories but now i have to pay for every chapter. I wish manta would think more about their loyal customers and even out the gem vs non gem stories a bit more. For every 10 new comics that come out theres only 1 MAYBE 2 that aren’t gem only and it makes me sad, i’m beginning to look elsewhere for my stories bc i fear manta is beginning to become a sell out and i’m so sad.

    Great content but it is extremely annoying and greedy that you have to have a subscription to read some content and that there isn’t a way to get more chapters through watching ads or having a 5 chapter per day thing. Congrats I remember why I deleted your app the first time around 😒

  • Get titles have taken over

    I’ve used this app for years. I was totally happy with the subscription and unlimited access to stories. There were so many! New ones were added consistently too! Now gem titles have taken over and rarely are there any titles including with the monthly subscription. I’m sadly going to be leaving manta behind and giving up on my current stories because it’s just not worth it any more. I can’t even access any of the new titles with out paying even more. Other apps manage to be more accessible now which is wild. Manta was truly my favorite but the gem titles are just out of hand with no end in sight. There isn’t enough included with the subscription any more to make it worth it. Hopefully one day I can return!

    After having the app for a year and paying the unlimited membership fee, everything was great. But they later added the need to use gems on certain series. Mostly on anything new that’s been introduced, and then re running manga’s that they had discontinued and removed then relaunched as also needing gems to be purchased to read. When they offer a membership that gets around needing to buy gems, I’ll be back but until then. Adios. Wish they were like Tappytoon, their membership provides so many tokens a month to use to unlock things to read. Hope they drop an email to me if that happens. Update: I hate opening this app, all you see is a flood of things you have to buy now. What’s the point of paying a membership? This app is trash now, which is so sad considering what it was just a short while ago. Just keeps getting progressively worse. Can’t wait for my membership to end so I stop opening this app, hoping things have gotten better.

    I used to really like this app, the comics were all really good, and I really liked the subscription based system where you didn’t have to buy gems…. Unfortunately they decided to change that, now the vast majority of the titles being released are gem based, not to mention there’s no option to filter them out. There’s also the fact that tons of stories that I really enjoy are either canceled or are on indefinite hiatus, which I do appreciate isn’t always the apps fault, just wish there could be some warning. I’ll probably be canceling soon.

    I used to love the app because I could read as many comics as I wanted using the subscription. The gems per episodes now feels greedy. Will probably end up unsubscribing in the near future.

    I used to read manta all the time, but ever since their gem only addition a while back, it’s been hard to use it. It’s already so much with the subscription, I don’t want to keep buying gems. If the episodes cost less gems or if the gems were cheaper then maybe I’d still use it, but it’s just a money waster now. It’s just like all the others that just charge more and more. Even with the subscription you can barely read anything. Some good series I was reading, I can’t continue anymore without gems. I’m sure there’s a reason they changed it and that’s fine, but it’s just annoying now and I don’t read as much anymore because of how expensive it is. I cancelled my subscription because it just isn’t justifiable anymore and the series I like I can’t read. I’m kind of disappointed. I’m just used to how it used to be is all. All that aside, it is a really good app. Easy to use, organized, and they have a lot of great stories. If you don’t mind paying more with gems then you should like it quite a bit.

    I loved the app initially. As an avid reader I loved the pay a flat rate and get everything unlocked method and now that they transitioned to the gems format I find myself annoyed that I have to pay more on top of what I have been. Now it’s the same as all the other manga reading apps. Might as well go back to tapas and pay for ink
