  • A short review and a long grip about controls.

The game is fun and cute, the progression is great, making me reach for that next step. Before I know it I’m late for a meeting. The gameplay loop is a boil down from stardew valley. but it brakes the mold, going from clone to individual, with its own charm and style, Clever gameplay and narratives. Some people might gripe at the lack of storage. I feel that’s a point of the game. You have virtually, pun intended, infinite resources. Which means throw things away! Stop hoarding! Downsize a little, or in your case a lot! my only real issue is the controls; for the mobile version, they are atrocious. And maybe I’m stupid, but I can’t find anywhere to configure them. This becomes a problem with accessibility: try moving the character without your thumb; I had to and all I needed was to switch the controls from left to right. I kept thinking of my little cousin, who was born without a left thumb; she could not play this game unless she had some other means. Accessibly is often overlooked by developers, which is unfortunate as it is too important of a feature to overlook. My personal nemesis was item placement. Placing objects have too many, as in more than one, way of doing. Structures placed from the build menu, objects from your inventory or from your hotbar, farming has its own placement system; seems pretty straightforward. Except for placing floors or digging holes, two vital components to the game. You can only do these actions from the hotbar, using your cursor; which is only controlled by your movement, where you are at, what next to you, and where mercury is in the sky. Sometimes you’re too close to any other object, preventing you from placing them; or, more frustrating floors and holes refuse to place at all. Now there is a fix, run around randomly and hope you eventually hit that perfect spot; or you could give up, loser. Now I did say that the controls are my only gripe and that’s because this next one is just a little odd to me. On the “extra” menu from the main menu: the second unlocked option is “suggest ideas”. Which takes you to an inaccessible nolt.io page. Now This game last real update was 5 years ago; I assume it’s no longer in development, understandable. But why keep that as an extra unlock? Why not remove it or replace it with a gag or something. It’s almost like the game is incomplete, and know I’m thinking, what else isn’t finished about it. Not to tell you how to make your game, but you definitely need accessibility and control settings. Just make floors placed like every other object. Digging should be done under the character sprite.
  • A VERY WORTHWHILE EXPERIENCE.

It is the best game but on other devices you can’t get small droids so on options there’s a setting where there’s small droids add a friend system of where your friends can join your world and others I am 88% on the achivments and 100% islands and stuff

I loved the game, but when I went to the menu, pressed “Save and Exit”, and opened the app later, my entire save was gone for no reason. It makes playing and making progress impossible.

The game overall is really fun, but every time I “save and exit” it resets all my progress to the beginning, some help would be great
  • Was really fun but stupid bug

I had put 60 hours into the game trying to get all the feats. I was super close and broke the moon sword obelisk. Turns out, that was needed for me to get all the feats and it’s impossible to get back, so I’ve got to completely start over to get all the feats
  • Huge bug makes it unplayable

The game is fantastic, but every time you close the app, there is a chance the game reverts back to a save hours and hours older. It’s so frustrating to play and then realize all the progress you made is lost, even after manually saving the game.

The pixel graphics are so charming and cute, and the gameplay is addicting as heck. The effects make the game come to life even more than it already felt. Unlocking islands and farming resources really never gets old, as you know that there’s something you can unlock, something you can build, somewhere you can explore. Music is great too. I literally can’t think of many big flaws for this joy of a a game. Great job, HopFrog!

No complaints. Sometimes diagonals are tough, and targeting on closely packed items is tough, but heat can you do? It’s the nature of the beast. Highly recommend a controller for best experience.
