  • Predatory Company

You know what I hate, companies that rely on users who don’t use the service after being excited to use the product signing up for a subscription that gets put in your face the moment you open the app, then when the app turns out to not be as useful and the user forgets to cancel , the company silently lets the time run out to charge you for a service you’re not using . Just be aware. The marginal cost on a customer is pennies but they feel the need to lock me in for a year , great!

Wow this app is annoying! It said free, but then after I downloaded and answered a million questions it said free 7 days, then purchase. This app asks soooo many questions to get started, including who pays the bill at restaurants .. split bill, take turns, why would you care? There went 10 minutes of my life I will never get back. I just wanted to research a destination. There should be a way to bypass all the inquiries. Will go back to travel advisor.
  • Too much onboarding, no skip

Hey. Incredible app. The onboarding questions were absolutely insane. I just want to get in and explore and it took me almost 10 minutes to get to a trip planning page. I got more and more upset with each question, please provide an option to skip all that, for the love.

I never write reviews but this app is amazing. I don’t have the paid version and it still manages to amaze me how many functions I have access to. It’s as if I’m planning a trip and then think- x would be really handy right now- and then I realize I’m able to do it in this app. Just the best!!!!!!

I’ve been using this app to plan my solo Ireland trip for two weeks, and I’m currently using it to plan my 4-week Europe backpacking trip. It’s an incredible app, and the support team is super responsive to feedback. I highly recommend this app if you’re looking for an all-in-one travel solution!
  • Too laggy to be useful

Overall, I think the concept of this app is great. However, it is frustrating to actually use because it is so laggy. Every time I try to add or move something, it takes forever or just doesn’t work, and I have to restart the app. At this point, I would rather just use Google Maps or a Google Doc.

I really like how the app lets me organize my trip plan, especially uploading flight info and suggesting sights/activities in the area! It saves me time and keeps me from being overwhelmed.
  • A useful FREE app that doesn’t put everything behind a paywall

I’ve used Wanderlog to plan 2 trips so far and it’s been incredibly helpful. The first time was in the US (where I’m from) so accessing my itinerary in real time was easy. I’m curious to see how the app will perform when trying to access it from another country. The best part about the app is the fact that you can use this app the way it’s intended to be used, without having to pay for a subscription. So many other apps out there allow you to start planning but then hit you with a paywall after you’ve added 10 or more destinations to a travel itinerary. Wanderlog allows you to add as many* destinations to your itinerary as you’d like (* disclaimer: I’ve added over 200 locations to a recent travel itinerary and still haven’t hit a paywall. I can’t officially say you can add as many as you like because I don’t actually know if there’s a limit but so far I haven’t hit that limit). You can add in popular tourist destinations, restaurants, shopping, anything you can think of. Wanderlog is also connected with Google maps so when you add a location into your itinerary, not only are you given a pin location for that place, but you also get helpful info from Google such as the hours of operation, the address, phone number, website and a helpful description of the place. Additionally, Wanderlog lets you add additional helpful details to each location such as your own notes, what time you intend to visit that location and the cost of the location (which can be added in many difference currencies). The ability to add the costs as the local currency is particularly helpful given exchange rates are constantly changing. I’ll know ahead of time that a particular shrine in Japan costs ¥500 because I was able to add that cost into my itinerary. The app doesn’t stop there - you can also add in additional details such as your airline information, hotel information and transportation. Another amazing feature is the budget calculator. The app will automatically tally up all of the costs that you add to your itinerary, whether it be for hotels, airfare, or admission costs for locations, and will break it down in an itemized budget so you can see exactly how much the total cost is and where those costs are allocated. You can also access resources that include recommendations for your travel destination as well as publicly posted itineraries from other users which is a treat. For context, I’m planning a trip to Japan and most, if not all, of the travel blogs reiterate the same recommend spots. Viewing others’ itineraries helps introduce you to additional unique experiences you may not see on traditional travel blogs. All in all, the app is great and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is planning a trip. There is room for improvement - I would like to see the app include a feature where you can easily swipe left or right to see the next destination on your itinerary.
