  • Very good — but CarPlay caveats.

    The graphics are excellent. App lacks seamless CarPlay integration. This is the biggest downside and stops TomTom from being my go-to navigation app. Needs to be viewable on multi-tile screen, and pop-ups when other apps are on full screen. Right now, TomTom feels disjointed in CarPlay.

  • No option to plan a drive in advance??

    Why does this app not let you plan a drive in advance like Waze ie. select the time you want to arrive at your destination and the app constructs the rout and tells you what time you need to leave by, and why does it not let you see the turn by turn directions??

    I just downloaded TomTom as a replacement for Waze and generally it’s pretty good so far. My only issue is that it is not showing the exit number of my next step, just the street name. Not sure if this is an issue because I’m running it via CarPlay or if it always does that, but the exit number would really be useful.

    I've gone back to Waze now as a backup to Google Maps. The directions with TomTom are absurd. I compared side by side with others for my area and it's baffling. TomTom dataset has become very outdated including speeds. Support refuses to correct. I see no reason to use the app now. Perhaps if they added traffic live cam imagery I might return.

    I like the general layout and the directions seem good. My first navigation unit way back was a Tom Tom. I liked it especially after loading John Cleese’s voice. My issue with this app is it apparently doesn’t access my contacts. That makes it difficult since many of my drives are spoken and to locations in my contact list. Is this an issue to be addressed or is the app still treated as a stand alone device? It would be very good if it would just access my contacts.

    The app doesn’t show any directions. Example turns, etc. that is turn by turn directions. I think sometimes they call it trip itinerary.
