  • Beautiful Designs, Frustrating Experience: Not Ideal for Precision Planning

I’ve spent about 12 hours using this app and walked away feeling deeply frustrated and disappointed. I’m in the middle of a full home renovation and hoped to use the app to design my interior based on 5D’s model styles, starting with a new half bathroom. My original plan was to input accurate room measurements and let the AI generate interior designs tailored to my space. I began by scanning my floor plan from a printout using MagicPlan. Unfortunately, the result was unusable — multiple wall layers stacked on top of each other. I tried other methods to create the layout manually, but without wall-locking features, every small edit changed other dimensions unexpectedly. My kitchen, with walls of differing lengths, took over 4 hours to get even close to accurate. Adding doors, windows, appliances, and cabinets was equally frustrating. Editing frequently crashed or closed unexpectedly, objects would resize when I was simply trying to move them, and walls would shift in size without any prompting. After all this, the 3D view wouldn’t open. When I attempted to design a simple square bathroom, the app told me the room was too small for AI design generation. I chose this app because of its extensive library of furniture and interior styles, and in that regard, it has potential. If you’re looking to explore design aesthetics or get visual ideas based on general styles, this might work for you. But if you’re aiming for precise layouts with exact measurements, this app simply isn’t up to the task — at least not on iPad Pro or iMac.

This app is very difficult to use and is not so intuitive. The undo button doesn't actually work. 5D is just too cumbersome to use and don't buy it.

I have worked with 3D planning programs in the past and I am impressed with this program. I will need to spend a little time getting used to the program and all of its capability but it seems to meet my needs. I am also impressed with the fact that you guys monitor and offer help utilizing the program. I’ll keep you posted on my progress as I work with your application.

Oooof…just only my trial. Trying to do a simple room. There are some cool things about it, but this app definitely does not have things ironed out yet.

I truly wanted to like and use this app. I am needing something to help me with a current project I have and some upcoming projects. It is VERY clear they want you to spend money. However till I can easily delete mistakes, and not be pressured so much to purchase. The App is a no go for me on my MacBook. Unfortunately that wasn’t the only issue or the first issue. That was with both trying to get signed in and even begin using the app. I had to delete and reinstall it. I will try it on my iPad, hopefully it works better there

I never leave reviews in the App Store, but Planner 5D is truly awful for developing floor plans. Both the Mac OS app and the web platforms are glitchy and prone to freeze, even the paid subscription lacks basic functionality, and what you can to requires you to constantly jump through hoops and tinkers with things that waste time and are just uniquely infuriating. And if you ask the Bernard AI "assistant" for help, it will actively recommend troubleshooting steps that are literally not possible the way the app is designed. Yes, I mean it tells to solve my problem I need to click through panels that don’t exist anywhere in the app. Planner 5D took almost two days of work and lit it on fire. If you’re looking for a cost-effective means of designing simple floor plans, do yourself and go anywhere else.
