  • From Glory to Greed: How Lords Mobile Betrayed Its Players and How It Can Reclaim Its Throne

    2
    By @Gaby_Elsol
The initial allure of Lords Mobile captivated a vast audience with its engaging gameplay and strategic depth, fostering a sense of achievement and community. However, the current trajectory, marked by an overwhelming emphasis on exorbitant expenditures through layers like astralite, artifacts, and castle skins, has left many players feeling disillusioned and frustrated. This shift from a balanced gameplay experience to a relentless pursuit of financial investment raises critical concerns about player motivation and engagement. Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs highlights that true fulfillment comes from achieving mastery and belonging—elements that were once central to the Lords Mobile experience. The introduction of complex features has diluted that sense of achievement, shifting the focus away from skill and strategy. To rekindle the essence that made Lords Mobile a standout title, it could be transformative to implement a more equitable progression management system, something akin to resource allocation in games like StarCraft but instead with stats. This would allow players to derive satisfaction from their skills and time playing rather than just their financial investments. Moreover, adopting a transparent multilateral progression system similar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild could inspire exploration and creativity, encouraging players to embark on unique journeys. Imagine a world where players could freely reinforce each other’s castles without limitations, fostering a sense of fairness and camaraderie. Creating a community-driven environment reminiscent of Minecraft, where collaboration and creativity are celebrated, would strengthen players’ connections to one another and to the game itself. I implore a richer event system where players are rewarded not solely based on how much currency they spend but on other creative goals. Additionally, introducing mechanisms that balance overpowering elements with objective weaknesses—similar to something like the strengths and weaknesses in Pokémon—could create a more inclusive competitive landscape. A free singular choice emblem out of many with a time-lock period that counters opposing type opponents by for example 50% and those without emblems by 100% could help level the playing field and foster a sense of fairness. Ultimately, returning to a model that values strategic gameplay and community interaction, while minimizing the emphasis on financial transactions, could profoundly enhance the player experience. By focusing on emotional engagement and fulfilling players' intrinsic motivations, IGG can pave the way for a renewed and vibrant experience for all players. Spending money would still provide a strategic edge, but it would no longer equate to invincibility, allowing every player to feel valued and empowered in their journey. - Shadow DA

So I wanna start off by saying I love this game been playing for almost 6 years I believe now. Anyways I just wanted to throw out an idea on adding something to crafting. I think it would be awesome if we could turn off the notification that it gives when we can upgrade pieces. The reason for this is maybe i want to save those materials for a certain piece. But doing that means i have to see that notification until i get those materials which can take a long time. So nothing huge just a quality of like change.

I love this game but the rewards do not justify the amount of money spent. Wish the rewards were more substantial. Other than that the game is totally awesome for long term playing. I have been playing since kingdom 55

I have been playing this game for 8 years and when I first started this game was about strategy and war. Now the game is about how can i decorate my castle because there are no targets and instead of making less kingdoms they keep making more so the game is just like playing with a Polly pocket. Who wants to spend money on decorations for their castle…. Very disappointing game.

A very fun game to pass the time by and not as heavy on the pay to win aspect as everything else out there is.

They will happily take your money and when it in time you deserve because you are, they will change the event date or the event quest in the middle of the event so you can’t win certain things you just waste your money

Yes this game is similar to others and the genre, but this game doesn’t require you to spend a ton of money to speed builds up, and there is always some type of task to do.
