  • Shows are great, app is terrible in all ways an app could be

The app runs like I’m using a fridge screen.
  • Interface is awful

Doesn’t re-start at the spot you left off at, can’t download more than 2 episodes of a show at once without the app crashing, there’s no skip intro and the “next episode” feature at the end of episodes doesn’t work. All the same issues on laptop and Xbox app. Needs serious work.

Who do so many major streaming apps seem like they were designed by people who don’t consider the user’s experience, or the intuitiveness of the app? Why is it so hard to continue watching an HBO series I started 2 days ago? Some shows go on the “continuing watching” menu, some dont. Why is it impossible to find other episodes of the show I’m currently watching right now? I paused a show just as the credits began to play, I was done watching that episode, and I went to sleep. I opened the app up in the morning and its back to the beginning of the same Episode I had already watched. Ok, fine, I’ll just go to the episode list and select the next episode. There is no episode list. I have to back-out to the main menu and then re-search for the series I was just watching to bring up a list of episodes. This is no-brainer dumb-dumb stuff.
  • Idiot App

I just threw this thing off my iPhone for giving me another black frozen screen. Navigation is a not user friendly... Using back and forward in a show freezes the stream-its impossible. You are forced to watch a show from the beginning if you pause and come back to it. App refuses to work simply on my iPad also I joined to watch one series specifically. Why can’t HBO make an App that streams in 2021.
  • Terrible app

Never works on my Apple TV anymore. Used to just be very laggy, now it just never loads. I have to reset my Apple TV every time if I really want to watch something. Seriously thinking about canceling my subscription because of this.
  • Great Content, Terrible App

Love the content but hate the app. Particularly the Apple TV app. I have to restart Apple TV every single day to get the app to work. Awful.
  • Where’s 4K?

Love the new releases in 4K. But why isn’t the entire platform in 4K. A lot of other streaming services offer 4K and Dolby Atmos. Why doesn’t HBO Max?
  • Unresponsive on iphone XS

Good other than being completely unresponsive on my iphone xs while video is playing. The only way to regain control is to close and reopen the app. Though admittedly this could be a bug in this terrible phone as well, so who knows?
  • Freezes on iPhone after a few shows

After watching a few shows in a row on my iPhone, the HBO Max app freezes or won’t restart to the main page so I need to shut my phone down to kill the connection. Happens every single time. Fix this please!!!
  • Buggy app, terrible UI

Streaming services have been around for years now and they all have one thing in common: absolutely horrible UIs. And HBO Max is no exception. No skip “opening credits” or “next episode” features make binging tv shows excruciatingly painful as precious minutes are wasted on opening and closing credits. Seriously, how hard is it to take what Netflix has already done and improve on it? At least the layout isn’t as clunky as Netflix, so there’s that. And no “are you you still watching” nonsense, well, not that I’ve noticed since I really only get two or three episodes into a show before I get tired of having to fish for my phone in the darkness and switch to some other service. And this is assuming I can get the app to stream to tv. Hopefully Vizio will add HBO max to it’s list so I can stop relying on this version.
