I got the premium subscription in order to get the air quality. But it always is N/A. I want my money back!
  • Car Play option

I recently upgraded my subscription to get the Car Play option and it is not worth it. If you are considering upgrading for that purpose don’t do it, had I known that the Car Play option was so poorly designed I would not have bought it. I will say that the app has a ton of customization features but the forecast is often so wrong. I could get wrong information for free but now I am paying for it. I definitely am disappointed and wish I hadn’t paid for a full year subscription

Really clever idea but, overall, just not impressed with execution. Quips are mostly just dumb and, unlike all my free weather apps, this one doesn’t even include weather maps. You must pay for the subscription ($20/yr) to get any weather maps. After the cuteness of the app referring to you as “meat bag” wears off, it’s just not as useful as I’d hoped.

It’s ok but the temperature alum on the map never changes. It seems static which is annoying

This weather app has a lot of options to personalize how the weather information is delivered. Because weather is important for my every day activities, unlike other apps where the radar goes so fast it’s hard to see exactly when the rain will arrive at a location, whereas this radar is slow enough so that it’s easy to see when the rain will arrive at my specific location.
  • Overly Complicated and Inaccurate

I’ve been a long-time fan of Carrot, but the app’s customization has gotten out of hand. There are way too many layout options, making it overwhelming to figure out where everything is. On top of that, I noticed it’s often not accurate and doesn’t even match the weather data from the apps I’ve set it to correspond with.

  • Free tier is dangerously useless.

I like this app but it’s crazy that choosing your weather info provider is a premium feature when the default free service, “foreca” is dangerously bad. I understand locking certain features behind a paywall but not when it comes to information people need for health and safety. The last week I’ve been in an area with a very high AQI (well over 100) without any notification from the app about the poor air quality and no “Air Quality Alert” when I open the app. Now, infuriatingly, I do see there’s an alert today, about a week late, on a day when it’s hovering around an AQI of 55– much safer than it’s been all week. If it wasn’t for checking other weather services I wouldn’t have known how bad the air quality was and I wouldn’t have adjusted my routine to limit my dog’s normally long walks. On the one hand, I shouldn’t have let whatever subscription I had expire. On the other hand it’s insane to normalize the idea that those who aren’t paying for a weather service would be given dangerously inaccurate or inadequate information. Again, paywall additional info, themes, whatever…. but the bare minimum of a weather app should be that it lets you know when it’s actually dangerous outside— crazy that even needs to be said, but here we are.
