  • Love the winter snow forecasts, the app itself not so much

App is not intuitive, a PITA to get information from. Adding locations to a favorites list should not be frustrating. I’ll go back to my three other tried and true apps.

Joel and open snow are my go to resource for where to head in the morning. Who got the most powder, how cold is it going to be in the morning and later, the only resource you’ll need for hitting the right mountain
  • Great service

Open Snow is a great service. I use it every day. Well worth the modest all-access fee!
  • Great app!

So much info on this app and it’s always up to date! I use this app every day for 6 months of the year, for both skiing and traveling. The other 6 months I use Open Summit!

This app is like having a meteorologist best friend who sends you the goods you care about every day. I use it religiously in the winter to plan ski trips and figure out when it’s safe to drive in the mountains. I like that I can get the regional overview from the on-staff experts (and often learn why particular conditions are developing), but I can also look into the forecast details and make decisions for myself. There’s always enough info to look into, and they’ve really made a lot of progress in the last few years in this area. I also use OpenSnow in the summer for trail running and mountain climbing. In many ways conditions in the summer are even more dangerous than the winter, with thunderstorms rolling in with barely any notice. Over the years I’ve had to learn how to read cloud formations to decide when it’s safe to keep going, but OpenSnow has made that process significantly easier with live and forecast lightning risk maps. Keep the improvements coming!
