Brian and the crew at open snow have a great feel for weather conditions in the mountains. They have lived and seen many different kinds of storms. So they add their experience to the models to give us a accurate and helpful forecast. As a local since 1980 I salute them. Kudos to them all.

My understanding of how the Earth’s climate forces influence our weather has grown significantly by tuning in to Bryan’s Tahoe Daily Snow. And with a 10 day forecast I adjust my calendar well ahead of powder days.

In my 3 seasons of using open snow I have maybe seen an accurate forecast once. The cycle is the same: over promise snow totals, slash totals over the course of the storm actually arriving, be lucky if anything falls from the sky. Apologize and say this is hard. There, I saved everyone a download. The irony of an app that is reliant on cold weather and moisture using AI also seems to be lost on them.

The best weather app around -and even better if you ski or go on hikes where knowing the microclimate weather is essential. Definitely subscribe, get their email newsletters, and watch/listen to their podcasts if you at all care about the weather. Thank you OpenSnow for several years of amazing outdoor predictions for me!

Opensnow is the perfect app for my IPhone and also my iPad. I use it when I am heading to the mountains to track the weather and storms to get ready for skiing. I use it when I’m not heading to the mountains to day dream of the fun I could be having. I use it while I’m in the mountains to check the snow for the next day skiing. I use it in the summer to plan my hiking trips. It’s a great app and very accurate.

I use it multiple times a day. Lots of interesting things that you can find on the app for those who are outside a lot and need to know what is going to happen weather wise. Educational articles are great too. Their staff and founders respond to any questions you might have. My most used app for sure.
