Rakuten: Cash Back & Deals

Takes FOREVER to get cash back.

Hi, The referral bonuses are not even provided irrespective of we refer our friends and they made a qualifying purchase. Could you please look into this immediately?

Having an issue in the web view where it activates cash back but the website just shows a black screen. The extension works though

I have been a long time customer of Rakuten. I have earned over $1000 during the last 3 years. During this last 3 month period that ended in Nov, I earned over $516 from purchases through Rakuten, the most I have ever earned in a 3 month, or even year’s period. That amount is reflected in my account. However, Rakuten has only paid me $96. It has taken a new approach and will not pay me for 20 - 120 days until it absolutely certain that I won’t return the merchandise. Rakuten never did that previously, even when I earned around $100. Rakuten is holding onto my earnings until after February when the next period ends. I have never returned any item that I purchased through Rakuten. Meanwhile Rakuten is taking weeks to even process my purchases and is simply holding the money while it collects the interest on the $500 I earned in purchases through Rakuten, for which the retailers paid Rakuten. In addition, they denied 3 purchases from Lego worth $800 in Lego sets, which are not excluded items. Using Rakuten to purchase items from the retailer is a pain in the neck. I have to log into the retailer and my saved logins on my iPad usually don’t work, it is extremely difficult to shop in the Rakuten app, so I put the items in my cart at the website on my browser. Then, not all the information, including payments and shipping, transfers in the app. If I had known Rakuten would find excuses to cheat me out of $400 for which the retailers paid Rakuten, during this 3 months period, I would not have bothered with them. Save your time and energy and just order directly from the retailer. Better yet, add the Capital One or Citi extensions to your browser, yes, they even work on Safari, and obtain discounts and cash back that way. After I wrote this review, I shared it with my son. He is experiencing the same problems as I am. In addition, to denying several qualifying Lego purchases, Rakuten gave him $0 credit for several Target purchases. As I and several other reviewers have said, Rakuten is a scam. It simply collects the money from the retailers for the purchases you make.

I have made purchases in the past with no issues. The latest experience comes as a huge disappointment. I am down $200 because of my cashback stating "ineligible" despite not being in the excluded products. I am definitely erring towards never using this service again as relying on it to make purchasing decisions has proven to be a huge financial mistake.

I've had the app since 2018. Over the past couple years, Rakuten has gotten to be a scammy hassle. Why is it that I have to do "find my missing cash back" almost every time? Yet when I make a return, Rakuten somehow knows instantaneously and deducts the cash back right away? Really suspicious, especially when they "can't find" my 15% cash back on a large purchase, yet claim "the merchant has been unable to verify this purchase as being eligible" even though the item was indeed eligible, and I've offered multiple means of verification from my side. Once this latest debacle is resolved, I'll be logging out and deleting the app. EDIT: Gave it another try, and two more "ineligible" shopping trips that don't any have T&C violations but are mysteriously ineligible. What a joke!
