    I’ve had my blast motion for years and it was a great tool for my older son. Now that my younger son is getting into baseball, we brought out the sensor again tonight. Unfortunately, the app only records 10 swings (kind of) a day before it makes you buy the monthly subscription. What a joke.

    It has a subscription that is absurd for $74.99 a year which is crazy because we already bought the actually sensor for around a hundred bucks! Terrible product.

    Purchased this for my sons last year, no subscription required, now you add a subscription. B.S. If you want add new features and put that behind a paywall, fine. But this list functionality from what it had on day one. Fix it.

    After buying the sensor itself for so much, I only expected to use the basic measurements like bat and hand speed. This is ridiculous that you only get metrics on ten swings a day. Customers who bought this before should not have to find out that their already too expensive sensor needs a monthly subscription. Do not buy this and save your money.

    When I originally purchased a device, it came with a free app, and a subscription was only needed for advanced features. Without notice, or any special offer for prior owners, they restricted the free app to just 10 swings per day, whereas a subscription is now required to restore the same level of use. I called and spoke with the company and they weren’t willing to offer anything. I asked if they would offer a buy-back or rebate for prior owners who purchased the device under the pretense the app was free—negative. Bait & Switch. Terrible move by the company.

    I have coached baseball for 8 years. I also love working with data…. “What’s measured is managed and what’s managed is improved.”Blast is a great device/app to track swing power (bat speed, rotational acceleration), contact (attack angle, on plane efficiency) and consistency (early connection, connection at impact) and see improvement over time. In addition to the data, there is a library of videos/drills that explain each of these 3 components of the swing to help the player visualize his swing with drills to improve the areas that need work. The app does require an annual subscription. But, the annual subscription costs less than one private lesson and if you work with a coach who embraces this technology, your player will be ahead of the game. While the sensor tracks bat speed, it does not track 2 important aspects of the swing: exit velocity (ball speed off of the bat at impact) and swing decision timing (time from deciding to swing to contact). Paired with HitTrax or simply a Pocket Radar to periodically track exit velocity and you will have almost everything you need to improve and drive consistency in the swing. For swing decision timing, Win Reality has some great VR drills.

    I’ve had the sensor for years and the last update removed all of the features after 10 swings per day. Their website still says these features are free. They lie! Diamond Kenetics here I come. I will not pay the monthly ransom for what was free when I bought the sensor and has been free for years.

    Paid $100 for the bath attachment and all I really used it for was bat speed and basic metrics for my kids. A random app update removed free metrics. Now you’ve gotta pay a yearly subscription to view basic metrics. I’m done and getting rid of the motion sensor.
