Just like title says, don’t bother with this app. It’s useless, incorrect (times and routes) and user interface is deliberately confusing and difficult to navigate.

An app that I have spent money on doesn’t work. When trying to figure out plans it fails to open and only shows a blank screen. Most of the paid information can be found on apple or google maps. Highly recommend trying a different app before trying this.
  • App Stopped Working

I arrived in Tokyo and for the first couple days used the free version of this app. I decided to purchase the 30 day subscription for $15 to be able to see stops as I rode the trains. After purchasing, the app changed and was harder to use, and then shortly stopped working altogether. Now when I try to launch the app, the JapanTravel loading screen will pop up, then change to a white screen and never load anything. I’ve restarted my phone and tried other methods and cannot get the app to work. Ultimately wasted $15 for an app that I can’t even open. It’s been broken for a couple weeks now. In my opinion, for navigating trains and buses in Tokyo, just use Apple Maps. This app left me wondering what to do when it essentially broke while in a station and never worked again. I can’t even open it to tell what’s happening with my subscription. Could’ve bought like 10 ikura onigiri at 7-11 with the money I wasted on this app. :/

If it’s a Japanese app, why do I have to pay for it?
  • Works but can’t sign in at all

It wouldn’t let me sign in and never sent me an email to confirm my login or anything. Thankfully you can use it without signing in so it works.
  • Forcing updates for minor point releases

Forcing updates for minor point releases is consumer hostile under any circumstances but especially for situations in which connectivity may be limited or costly. This app is 90% popups, ads, and upsales wrapped around the same functionality you can get in google maps for free with none of the annoying touting.
  • False ticket

I was cheated out of my money. I bought a Shinkansen ticket from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka on this app, but on the day of the ride, the website couldn't be accessed, the QR code link in the email was invalid, and the order couldn't be checked. When I asked at the Shinkansen counter, they said they couldn't find any order information on this third-party platform.
  • Inaccurate , not worth it

I paid for premium version , had lots of hopes, but found it very underwhelming and this app has many errors getting me lost a few times during just a few days in Tokyo and Kyoto. For example, it has a wrong location for Glanz Kei Kyoto hotel besides others, making our family go in totally opposite directions and lost in residential neighborhood . Fortunately, google maps saved us. That is in addition that despite me paying for premium they still push advertising. Definitely can’t recommend this app. Not sure how they got those reviews. I understand that Japan is hard to navigate but if you charge people at least make sure that common tourist spots are accurately mapped
  • Why do I still get your push notification ads after paying?

Charging for 15USD for 30 days yet still showing lots of ads in app and through push notification. How greedy can you be?
