I’ve tried the app on several test records and the pricing is always quite low on established rare records. Not sure where they are getting their pricing data but Discogs, eBay and popsicle.com are all better resources. This app is more of a gimmick than a helpful collector’s tool.

So attempted to test this out with some older records that are fun trying to catalog value and pressing info. Tried 5 records and one was correct. It even incorrectly cataloged Radiohead OK Computer as a Beatles record. Thankfully the trial was free. Back to Discogs.
  • Doesn’t Work

I scanned 25 records and not a single one produced with a proper search result. Then was charged for a yearly account before I could cancel.
  • Good try

Correctly identifying a record version takes a lot of work, so I was very skeptic. I gave it a try with my first press variant C of the album “Revolver” by The Beatles and the app wasn’t able to identify which press variant it is (as expected) … and this is KEY to correctly price the copy. For starters to properly value/identify a record you definitely need to check the runout markings .. and there are 10s of variations of this record. You identify the versions by checking small details such as the spelling of a song’s name, which songs are mentioned in the first line, if it includes additional notes, etc etc. Maybe this could be considered a nice app for people just getting into collecting records, but not for people looking to accurately price a large collection, specially if you have expensive copies.

I downloaded an app called Snapvinyl that has the same features as yours. Is it a copycat of your product?

I have been using this app to catalog a large amount of 45s. It often misreads the photos, and for the most part prices records on the high end. It’s easy to use, but don’t depend on it alone for your pricing.
