Proton Pass is easy to use. One of the great benefits of the service is that you can have unlimited email address aliases (depending on your subscription plan). You can not only have unique passwords for websites, but unique email addresses as well. These aliases will forward to your main email addresses. If you find that a website that uses one of your aliases has been compromised or see that address on the dark web, you can inactivate that address and get a new one. When you reply to emails sent to that alias address, the person sees it coming from the alias address, not your primary email address.

I have used many password apps, paid and open source. This was going through the initial release when I started with Proton and have seen it make great improvements. Their products are now considered top in their class. I have had great results with all of their products and see them keep getting better with new features every year. The password program has been great with no issues.

Overall Rating: Thumbs Up Proton Pass offers a commendable entry into the password manager space, especially if you're already part of the Proton ecosystem and appreciate a clean, straightforward interface. My transition from 1Password was notably seamless, and I've genuinely enjoyed the experience across both my browser and iPhone. It's easy to use for managing passwords, passkeys, credit cards, and identities. However, it's clear that Proton Pass is still evolving when compared to more established competitors. While it handles the fundamentals well, it lacks some key features. I'd love to see support for Wi-Fi password management, and a more comprehensive approach to identity details, including specific fields for passport details, SSNs, and known traveler numbers, would be incredibly valuable. These additions would round out its capabilities significantly. My primary reason for trying Proton Pass was to explore alternatives to my current password manager, and having Proton Ultimate made it a convenient bonus. The ease of use and the simplicity of its interface are definitely the standout features. Would I recommend it? Yes, I would.

It’s hands down the best password manager there is, because you can share not only passwords with family and friends, but you can also save all of your aliases, credit cards and what not in one secure place. And it’s accessible from any device!
  • Absolutely useless

The least intelligent password manager that I have used. I made the decision to switch from 1Password to ProtonPass and started to regret the decision shortly thereafter. It fails to identify that it should be autofilling a username and password more often that it does autofill a username and password, which is a basic functionality that you would expect to have. I am constantly having to go into the app, search for the login, and copy and paste the password into another app or my browser. Terrible when it comes to autofilling your credit card details. It absolutely fails in this regard every time. Automatically defaults to your Proton Mail email address and there is no way to change it. I am constantly having to fill in my email address manually because it will only suggest my ProtonMail address. Safe to say that this was money BURNED and I cannot wait to get rid of this goddamn password manager.

This is a great password manager, by far the best I’ve used and I’ve tried quite a few. Easy to use and extremely well designed.

Proton Pass is amazing. Proton is amazing. I love Proton Pass, VPN, Mail, all of it. I subbed to Proton unlimited partly because I wanted the paid features of Pass and VPN, and partly because I just really wanted to support Proton what little bit I could. I really appreciate the Proton team and what they do.
  • No iOS Safari extension support

Having been on the lookout for a fully integrated iOS password manager, I was really hoping this would be it. I heard great things, saw the excellent reviews, and immediately bought a 3-year subscription, only to discover that unfortunately, it lacks iOS extension support for iPhone and iPad. Consequently, I'll be cancelling my account to request a refund and will gladly update my review to 5 stars once full iOS Safari support is introduced.
