Apparently if you haven’t used the app for a while, it no longer alerts you to the ISS passing or other interesting happenings. The app description also says that it will show satellites. Unfortunately, you can often see them passing but the app is blank. Only very rarely will it identify any moving satellites and I’ve never had it identify a geosynchronous one. I suppose the app is good for seeing the names of the more prominent stars and in seeing constellations, but not for much of anything else. Not recommended.

From,Tomas Novotny(8 year old kid):This is the best app I ever seen.It has Perseus on that app because last year (2024) I didn’t see it there. No dark sky finder? Well, doesn’t matter to me.Remember, check your phone and see if there’s any constellation that wasn’t there on your phone.

I love the app but I’m in major city with light pollution. Once I get out into the desert, or national forest, I think this could be fascinating. Assuming it’s accurate. In college, we had to take 2 science courses as part of core curriculum and many took Astronomy, including me. Out of 80+ students, I had the highest grade on one exam and finished the course with an “A.” So, I hope I have some natural ability and this app will help me find out and, if so, to pick up where I left off in 1993 - 32 years ago - after 32 times that the Earth circled the Sun.

To access the Dark Sky Finder in the Sky Guide app, just open the app and look for the "Settings" or "Menu" option, then navigate to the "Dark Sky" feature. It should show you a map of dark sky areas. 😇 hope this helps
