I love Duolingo. Its widgets encourage me from my Home Screen, and the app is overall very encouraging. I am learning French with ease, but there are SO many languages to choose from in Duolingo! I 100% recommend.
  • Updated Japanese Course to a Terrible State

App has been great for years and they just updated the Japanese course with no option to roll back. Now I am stuck in some advanced chapters that 70% of the words I didn’t learned before. There is no way to contact customer service like they don’t care. They only care if you are subscribing to super Duolingo or not. I guess someone has to make something new to keep their job while not necessarily making the app better. Who cares about your streak when I can’t even learn anymore.
  • Great app!

So intuitive and conducive for learning. My only regret is that I discovered it so late. It’s mind blowing how ethnicity / gender / race / personality agnostic they have made the app.
  • Go back to the old format, please!

Every time they update this app, they make it worse to use. Now I can’t do more than 1 lesson without needing to “recharge” an imaginary battery, that won’t even let me get a “full charge” with ads because it’s in 3 point increments and the max is 25? Why have a 25 point maximum? And the battery point system DOES NOT WORK with such a low maximum. It goes through them faster than you can complete 2 lessons without any errors. Either increase the “battery charge” to 50points, or go back to hearts.
  • Bring back practice!

I’m super bummed they took away practice- not even to earn hearts and cheat their system, but just to keep my streak. Boooooo capitalism 👎🏼 I know y’all are just trying to get me to subscribe. Just put more ads on idc, lemme keep my streak!
  • My opinion

I think they could do a better job with explaining how certain words are different depending on pronouns, gender, and the tense. But I love Duolingo beside that and their media team is excellent!

I’ve been using Duolingo for about 4 years now, and since they now have Chess, Math, and Music now instead of just languages, I have a suggestion that they should add coding. As a programmer myself, I feel like it’d be a great addition to the app, and I feel like it could attract a lot of people who want to get into coding or get a refresher themselves.
  • Average Language Learning, ZERO customer service or help

I needed to reset my learning as I wanted to start over because I did not fully understand some things. I got zero response from whoever owns or runs the app. There is never a response no matter how many emails you send. In addition they want more money just to explain what you are learning. I don’t recommend this program for serious learners.
  • NEVER. EVER. get this.

If you lose your streak after you get it pretty high you will be depressed and probably cry unless you have a lot of gems. I was literally like crying when I thought I lost my streak and it wouldn't let me repair it. I searched on google and I finally found out I could buy a streak repair and then I couldn't find the shop and then I found it but I had to spend almost 5 dollars when there could've been a cheaper option for someone like me who doesn't have that much money to spare. I only need 496 more! Not 1200! I'm still shaking from almost losing my streak that's almost at a year. 😡
