For someone who studied French in college back in the 80s, I mastered a lot of grammar…but failed with conversation and listening skills. I never wanted to give up learning conversational French. Of all the language apps, I have to say this one has been the best! Many phrases and idioms have changed since the 80s—and the conversation feels more true to real life (not structured as in a classroom). I know I’ll probably complete this course by the Fall—but I’ll be more prepared to tackle a more intensive language app; thank you Duolingo!

  • They butchered it

There was once a time when there weren't 25 popups after every single lesson. Sure, there's more content, but it's harder now than ever to know what you really need help on. The interface and popups are RIDICULOUS. Absolutely abhorrent. The people putting the effort making the lessons are being screwed over by the people making the UI/design.
