I used to love duolingo. But the AI makes it feel inhumane. It doesn’t sit right with me to know that this AI that takes over duolingo is teaching me. I miss the old Duolingo. Bring it back.
  • Energy system!

I was rather enjoying this app through this year, my only real issue before was the speaking lessons for Japanese just seemingly would not understand me no matter how hard I tried. I didn’t even mind the ads between lessons, seemed fair enough for a free account. But the recent change to an energy system over hearts is just a clear and obvious means to force users to either watch an egregious amount of ads each day or to sign up for super. Sorry, I’m not biting, and with how long lessons have gotten in the later portions this is just completely unacceptable. I’m out, good bye Duo, I will no longer be in this abusive relationship.

I'm Turkish and I'm speaking from Turkey. It's a perfect app, but our energy drains quickly, please slow it down a little. And I'm learning Korean right now. I'm in Unit 2, but I still think it's a good app. So, Korean isn't difficult at all; writing is just difficult.

Ладно бы они за пол часа восстанавливались, и даже в этом случае хуже чем жизни, но терпимо, так они за 24 часа восстанавливаются. Видно что сделали невозможным использовать бесплатно

The new Energy feature is terrible, it makes no sense and does not help learning at all.
  • Voting 5 stars so people can see this. Horrible.

I used this for a long time, was a huge fan! But this app firstly: never truly teaches you how to speak any language, is very greedy and puts many things behind a paywall, even some of their most useful features removed for stupid reasons! And lastly they laid of many artists and workers for ai.

PREVIOUS REVIEW: It gives you motivation to actually practice since it’s not incredibly boring and difficult. I haven’t had it for very long AT ALL but I’m already starting to recognize characters in the language I’m trying to learn. Very helpful so far and it really pounds the words pronunciation and meanings into your head. I find it quite helpful so far CURRENTLY: if you keep putting daily time into learning, it is(or was) a good basis. however I would recommend actual teachers or real conversation if you don’t want your new language to be broken. after the update to “ai first” I feel I cannot trust it and am no longer using it to learn, I don’t believe that an incredibly complex and human topic such as LANGUAGE itself can be properly taught by Artificial Intelligence.
  • Th old version sounds so appealing

From what I have heard Duolingo is great and lets you practice many specific skills, what I heard was years ago and is now untrue. According to people complaining about it on Reddit it used to have a tree for specific skills instead of just one path. This sounds so appealing but it doesn’t exist anymore so now I need to find alternatives for actually teaching the specific skills instead I need and just use this to get vocabulary.
