  • Not for me

Ok so here’s the thing. I understand it’s a free trial that I took, but I just liked the free bit. I was fully prepared to pay for the subscription once it is up since three free books a month sounds awesome. But now I’m not. How am I suppose to trust that I’ll actually get my money’s worth if I signed up for the 3 premium book unlocks a month, and on the free trial version of this edition, after just one unlock, I’ve apparently used it all up? Cool concept but I have to be smart with my money.

Unlocked titles won’t play; customer service states it will be 24 to 48 hours to resolve. Customer service is AI.
  • Way better value than audible, but app is glitchy

For less than the cost of a 1-book-a-month audible subscription, you get three. It’s way better value. My library uses hoopla not Libby, which has a really limited collection. And Libby, when I could use it, only lets you have a book for 2 weeks, often after a months long wait for a popular title. As someone who loves listening to audio books while cleaning and driving and exercising, it’s a great addition and worth the cost. I also love that you can listen to a really substantial sample of a book before committing to redeeming one of your credits on it. There have been a few I sampled but realized were not for me after listening. I wasted a lot of audible credits on books I didn’t really get into. The only drawbacks are that you can’t send ebooks to your kindle, like you can with Libby, and the app can be glitchy. A few times I ran into problems with the app suddenly marking a book I was in the middle of as finished while I was listening to it, and not allowing me to go any further. The customer service was no help. The only solution was to delete and reinstall the app which I figured out on my own. I didn’t lose my place but it was annoying and I hope it doesn’t keep happening.

I have been a Scribd customer as long as Scribd has been around. I loved that I could access books and documents that were rare, out of print and often impossible to find anywhere else, including magazines and patterns. However, scammers now use the app by uploading covers of books, patterns, and magazines. Once you download them and open them you hit a paywall. It’s a horrendous waste of my time and I also am concerned my information is being compromised. Second, I subscribe to Audible. I liked that with Everand I could listen to unlimited books, even if they weren’t the most recent. Now we have gone from unlimited to 3 unlocks monthly which I do not “own”. And the unlocks do not roll over. At least with Audible I own my titles and they roll over from month to month. There are months that I am just too busy to search and unlock my titles. And third, the app refuses to open on my Apple Watch series 12 with the latest IOS software, and trouble shooting with Everqnd,s AI support. When I tap the app on my watch it just does a little flash and nothing happens, no error code, nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, powered watch and phone off and restarted. Finally, I have recently had books that while published by prominent publishing companies have glitched that re-read sections multiple times. I have only had that happen on the Everand app.
  • It’s terrible now

When this used to be Scribd, you had so much material to access. Now every title requires you to pay to access. I’m not sure what even is covered by the “subscription “ of nearly $100 a year. SAVE YOUR MONEY: Everand ruined this app is hen they took it over.
  • Subscription restructuring ruined this app

I have been a loyal customer since 2017. Raved about the app to all of my friends and how great it was. After changing their subscription services, I find the app no longer fills any gaps in the market. You only have access to the books you “unlock” while you are subscribed. You don’t actually own the audiobooks you are spending your credits on. Once you cancel your subscription, say goodbye to the books you spent your “unlock” credit on. Plus, the credits don’t roll over monthly, so if you forget to use your “unlock” credit for the month you’ve wasted your money. I’d rather use something like Libro.fm if I’m going to be paying for “unlocks” every month. Very disappointed in the restructuring of what was once a truly great app. Maybe one day they’ll reconsider and revert back to what the customers clearly want. Until then, I’m taking my money elsewhere.
  • Inaccessible and falsely advertised

The app advertises that users will be able to access thousands of ebooks and audiobooks under the subscription, but you only receive a credit to access one book each month. I tried the free trial that was supposed to allow me to unlock a book to listen to, but I was only able to listen to one chapter before I was blocked from listening to the rest of the book. I’m glad I didn’t spend a penny on this horrible app. I will stick to Audible and Spotify for audiobooks.
  • Disappointed by “unlocking” system

I used to use Everand allllll the time because I’m in a job where I can listen to audiobooks and easily get through one in 2-3 days, but I cancelled because finances got too tight. I just decided to subscribe again because all my Libby holds are “several months”, so the all-you-can-read access would be worth the cost. I am SO DISAPPOINTED to see they’ve switched to a model more similar to Audible. Paying for access to ONE audiobook I’m interested in each month is ridiculous. I won’t be continuing past my 7-day trial because this is not the same app I had loved. It’s no longer worth the money, and I’ll be seeing cheaper alternatives. It’s sad to see media providers becoming more and more greedy by increasing prices and/or limiting access.
  • Changes are Bad

I am so disappointed in the changes with the “unlock”. So now I pay $12 a month for ONE book? No thank you. I’ve cancelled my subscription.
  • Poor customer service

I paid the subscription fee but never got access to any locked titles. I emailed customer support (there is no phone number and just a useless AI chat bot) it has been over a week and I never heard from them. I just got charged again and still don’t have access
